Making Time to Write
(229 views)I am a playwright. I am also an actor, director, producer, teacher, wife, cook, pet owner, housekeeper, bill payer — you get the idea. I am struggling to find the time to write with all the other “roles” I take on. Not to mention trying to get enough rest and enough exercise. I am nearly 45. I have successfully produced my own writing but haven’t finished rewrites on those plays in order to send them out to other theatre producers. I am also starting on a new play and would LOVE to focus on that as well. I tell my students they should write everyday and I don’t follow my own advise. It is amazing how I am able to put the heart of my creative expression on the back burner. I wish I had a live - in maid and a personal assistant to take care of everything else in my life so I had time to write. Maybe Spring will bring new motivation.
I’ve been searching for a mentor and the one person I felt could really be that role for me was just diagnosed with throat cancer and certainly doesn’t have the time to help me out now. I always get a bit annoyed when there are all these mentor programs created for kids but none for adults. Still seeking mentor. Thanks for listening, Sam
