Religion is a way to control the masses!
Tuesday, April 7th, 2009 at 5:43 pm. (436 views)I find it amazing that the majority of the world doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, The Tooth Ferry, or The Great Pumpkin. However, they do believe in an all powerful and omnipotent being that hears them speak. I will be told I have no faith, or I don’t believe. This is not so……I believe in myself, and in those who believe in me whom I can see, feel, touch, and hear who are real breathing people. I believe in man kind.
Why don’t we start believing in each other and helping each other, instead of lining the pockets of the Pope/Evangelists who play on our emotions. Instilling guilt, shame and fear into us and our children.
Peace,
(This vent has no vote question)

If you believe in Hell, and not in God, then be prepaired. There can be no “one” without the other. Thats common sense Einstien.
Religion is NOT a way to control the masses, its a choice made by the individual. Are you not part of the “masses?’ Arent you overlooking the fact that the “government” is the real controller of the masses?
Gods purpose was not to “control” you, it was to offer you a choice.
Tell me this: when you fall in love with someone, do you give them gifts, or do you crap on thier rug?
The people who love God, build churches to worship Him in. Where do you think this money comes from? The government? No, it comes from those who have a choice to give what they can. And they do it on thier own free will. This is also something God gave you. A free will. This means you can either believe in God or not.
So if you “choose” not to, but obviously believe in hell, then I wouldnt want to be you when you face death.
No one needs brains to judge you, you’ve already judged yourself.
I’m surprised Kolobus, I thought you would be a much more open minded man because of what your mother had to deal with when you were young. But I see that the anger has taken over your life instead of you taking over the anger. If you should ever want to know the true meaning of God, feel free to comment. A big guy like you shouldnt be afraid of God, right?

Greetings to encouragingword:
I see that not only do you believe in the Christ Claus, you do so with such great enthusiasm. It is to bad you can not operate your spell check in the same way you practice your beliefs. I might also add, no where in my posting did I say anything about believing in a Hell.
Now do you know where the idea of hell came from? The Catholic Church adopted the idea of hell after Dante. This is where most of your beliefs derived from whether you are will to admit it or not. Now if you are a follower of the Christ you would be appalled in fact down right pissed off. Todays Christianity doesn’t even come close to what the followers of the Christ taught. Please remember according to Christ himself, he came to replace and fulfill the law. Christ gave us only two commandments. One being love your neighbor as yourself. So my friend do you treat all as you wish to be treated? No t just part of the time, but all of the time. When you see another human being holding a sign, todays begger. Do you stop and lend a hand or do you just drive by and think to yourself, “What a sloth” It is not easy being a true follower of the Christ. Yeah, you’ll fall back and reply, “I am not perfect please forgive me.” Poppy cock I say to you. Hiding behind the Christ died for our sins on the cross. So when I don’t ask Christ like all I have to do is say I am sorry to the invisible man and all is forgiven. Again poppy cock. Go to the begger on the street and tell him you are sorry, because “you never know when your in the company of angels”.
All I ask of you is to practice charity, generosity, and hospitality. You know when you give it comes back 100 fold. This not only happens on Sunday/Saturday when you drop the $$$ in the gold plate. Save your $$$ for the begger on the street. They need it more than the palaces where your pastor puts on his show.
Peace and all good on your day!

As a matter of fact, any money I do give, I give to the ones who need it most. I have, in the past, paid for the homeless to eat, fed the homeless, and continuously contributed to just causes, such as families with no money to buy thier kids toys for Christmas and so on. And I dont think I need spell check to please the spelling nazis who know of nothing else to do but bash people for thier beliefs.
( and by the way, the correct grammar is ” willing” to admit it, not “will’ to admit it, Mr spellcheck) And yes, I am not perfect, and niether are you, but I’m not going to beg your forgiveness either.
And while on the subject of spellcheck, its Tooth Fairy, not Ferry.
And its “act” Christ like, not “ask” Christ like.
Treat people as you want to be treated? OK, your spelling and grammar sucks. As a matter of fact, it’s worse than mine.
Your right about one thing though, its not easy being a true follower of Christ. We were all born into sin. It’s just some of us choose to repent, and others could care less. You obviously could care less.
But even so, that does not mean I think of you as a fool. Your entitled to your beliefs, just as I am entitled to mine.
Also, the comment about hell was directed to Kolobus, not you. My post to this thread was a combination of replies to both of you.

So where does the idea of original sin come from? How can we be born into sin? I assume you are speaking of original sin(?) ? Does that mean if a baby dies prior to baptism the baby goes to hell, since it hasn’t been washed of original sin? You seem well versed, I would like to just how versed you are on this matter; since you never answered my previous questions concerning the existence of hell.
I hope you have an open mind, at least open enough to watch this video link. It is not pornographic, however it asks several questions concerning religion/Christianity. The information given is correct and well documented by biblical scholars.
Again I believe we should love one another as we would love ourselves. Myself, I am trying to model my life to the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi.

I watched the first 40 min of this video, and will view the rest later.
But what I have seen of it was very interesting indeed.
Corruption, famine, civil unrest, assasinations, greed, and unconcern for human beings and ecology, are what the prophets predicted, both in the Bible, and that of modern day prophets like Edgar Case made.
You had mentioned evolution in one of your threads. Evolution was proven ( figuratively) by carbon dating. Dinosours, primative man etc, ( stay with me here) The earliest texts from the Bible were also carbon dated back to a period shortly after Christ. Now, these prophets from the Old Testament, in many opinions, seemed to hit the nail on the head almost 2000 years before the actual occurences of thier prophecies. Even Nostradamus had an eye for the future.
The one thing everyone seems to be overlooking, is when these prophets spoke of what they saw was to come, they had no idea of what they were seeing, because they had no perception of modern technology.
So they had to explain what they saw, as best they could. By todays standards, we may as well consider them as being clueless.
Now taking that into consideration, wouldnt it make sense for a supreme being such as God or Jesus, to explain things to them on thier level of intelligence and perceptions? 2000 years later, we are still trying to decode the meanings behind the scriptures, and quite honestly, I dont think we even made much of a dent.
When Christ came to replace the law, He was doing away with the laws of the Old Testament. But he came to “fulfill” the prophecies of the Old Testament.
The teachings of Jesus were of love, compassion, living without sin, loving your fellow man etc. But why is it that you try to follow the teachings of St Frances of Agassi, yet choose to deny there is a God? St Frances belived there was a God, so shouldnt you be scoffing at his teachings?
Before you reply to this letter, let me view the rest of the video you sent, and I will reply to it with less scattered thoughts.

I have to say that most of the prophecies in the Bible are so general that they would have to be fulfilled at some point. I was a Christian, before I read the Bible, and found it to be full of bullshit. Please excuse my extremely offensive way of putting it, but this is the best way to describe what I felt when I read the various things in there. I now belong to a new church, The Church Of The Flying Spaghetti Monster. That is for another time though. Why do a lot of Christians seem to think that non-believers are less moral? Like when encouragingword says that some people could care less about repenting for sin. What sins am I not repenting for? How do you repent for a sin? Also, how is someone born with original sin? Is that one of those ‘Your great-great-great-great-grandfather committed a sin, so it is passed down to you’ things? I don’t see how the sins of the father are passed to the son, myself.
