honeyclover how are you going to rotate the dvds you received?  in one section tracy mentions that we should do this particular one for a month, then switch, but i was thinking of doing the pd1 for 11 days (minus one day for a break)  then starting on number 2 - going that way until i reach number one again and my muscles get used to it then adding ankle and hand weights i guess…

I think I will probably do the same as you but I may do more like 20 days(not counting rest days). I didn’t get her new cardio dance dvds…I’m just doing treadmill dancing and am also considering ordering this Brazilian Booty dance workout dvd, in the preview I noticed some TA friendly moves.

Happy Sunday Ladies!  I got so many compliments on how I looked last night — many from complete strangers — and I felt so confident.  I feel better about my body than in years although there still is tons of work to be done.  The thought of putting on a bathing suit is terrifying but I just have to keep working on it.  I got the core fusion thighs and glutes on netflix and am working that in since my thighs are my serious trouble area.  I’ve been ding TA “seruiosly” for about 5 weeks — the first couple of weeks I wasn’t doing the entire mat and wasn’t doing 6 days a week.

I think you will really see results from the Core Fusion Thighs & Glutes.  The Core Fusion Arms & Abs is also a good one if you want additional arm work.  I haven’t done any of the ab work on that one, just the arms, and it comes with a resistance band, as long as you buy it new.

Inner Thigh:
Something I also did that really helped was to get the Pilates Circle and just do about 100 squeezes with that while sitting down, you can do that while you’re watching TV.

Ladies, what do you do when you are sick?  Perservere or just rest?  I have a bad sinus infection and am so exhausted.  I actually left work early because I couldn’t keep my eyes open and desperately needed a nap.  I managed some standing abs and the arms webisode but that left me beat.  I can’t even contemplate doing legs or cardio.  Hopefully I will bounce back soon as I don’t want to lose my results ….

Rest — and take 2 tsp apple cider vinegar in 8 oz of water a couple of times a day.  The acidity of the vinegar helps to shorten the course of the infection.  Stretching is OK.  When you can breathe a little better, do some yoga breathing.

Do you recommend apple cider vinegar for weight loss/general health?  I was just reading an article about acv this weekend and read it was wonderful for everything!

Hey guys I’ve been following this forum for a long time and finally got the courage to join. I have to ask you what is keeping you motivated? I have been doing TA Method off and on for the past month or so but I work full time (from 5am-2pm) and I go to school at night. I’m just so exhausted I barely get in 1 hr of cardio or mat but not both. Plus I live in a 2 bedroom apt with 2 other girls on the second floor of an apt and privacy is an issue. Any recommendations. I desperately want that lean, tight dancers body!

In view of the restrictions of your current situation and knowing how time-intensive TA Method can be, allow me to suggest an alternative “Tracey.”  Tracey Mallett. She has written a book called Sexy in 6, and has 2 dvds that are companions to the book but have to be ordered separately.  They are Total Body Calorie Blast and 6-Minute Quick Blast Workout.  She has two children and a busy schedule.

The whole thing with her is that these workouts are interval circuit training that helps get the fat off quickly and also tones you, where you can do them in 6 minute segments.  Like 1 or 2 in the morning, maybe 1 at lunch, 2 at night.  The reviews on Amazon are great, there is a lady in Europe that’s doing 24 minutes a day, 6 days a week and is very satisfied with her results — she’s got a 3-year old daughter to look after.

I am thinking that after you have done this for awhile, (1) your conditioning will be better so your energy level will be better, and (2) perhaps something about your schedule or living situation will change, so that moving on to the TA Method at that time will be more workable for you.  I’m not trying to discourage you from TA Method, it just sounds like maybe you need to start where you are.  If you don’t have the time and space and energy to give TA a fair shake, you’re not going to see the results.

Let us know how it all works out for you, and best of luck to you.  Oh, BTW, get your thyroid checked.

I started taking apple cider vinegar to help my knees and arteries.  Some people swear by it for weight loss, however, I have low thyroid, and only thyroid and iodine plus exercise make much of an impression on my body.  Also, I have had my gall bladder out and ACV helps a lot with digestion.  Heinz is a good brand.  2 tsp in 8 oz of water twice a day.

#5213

KhoTran33, thank you for the ACV tip!  I did that and rested all of yesterday (working from home) and I feel so much better today.  I woke up early without my alarm and already finished my workout, which feels great.  I really am going to try to do it in the mornings consistently.  Alisha, how are you?  I miss your posts!

I’m excited because I have been preaching the gospel of TA to everyone and my sister has started the workout too.  She asked me last week, what is that workout you are obsessed with?, and bought the mat video.  She couldn’t believe how hard it was and said she didn’t know her body could feel that way.  I told her to stick with it and she will start seeing results very soon.  I can’t wait to hear about her progress.

Hello ladies,

I kinda felt like I was taking over the board so made myself take a rest on posting (but I have read all of yours).  I should be delighted in myself because I have stuck to the 6 days a week working out HARD - haven’t missed one day yet….but on Friday night and last night I had dinner parties.  So, I spent Sunday - through last night trying to undo all the damage (way too much bad food and drinks) I did Friday night.  Last night I looked great, got lots of compliments - life was good…but now it is today and I’m bloated and tired and didnt get in my a.m. workout and feel down right yucky!!!!! So, I guess the only choice I have is to dance up a storm when I get home tonight and get in a good mat workout!!!!!
****Oh, I got the new Dance #1 dvd - have only done 1/2 of it once….but I like it.  I still don’t know all the dances on the Cardio Dance dvd so now I have lots to choose from.  *****And I got the Physique 57 series in the mail yesterday (even though it is quite similar to TA stuff - it is different and works new angles and exerciese) it was really hard - I did 1/2 of the arm dvd and the 30 minute full-body dvd yesterday….I’m am totally sore today.  I will keep this series and rotate them in once or twice each week.  I totally recommend them to everyone for when you are in need of new material.

posting updated 3 week measurements friday morning - yikes!!!!!

hope your all having a great week

Hello everybody,
I am new to Vent Park but not new to TA method. I’ve been doing TA mat/PP for almost 2 months now, 4-5 days a week and seen awesome results! I lost inches all over my body, I look leaner, toned..I haven’t been doing any cardio but I just got her Beginner Dance and really looking forward doing it, I love to dance.
The only thing bothering me are my inner thighs so I just got Core Fusion, did the workout and I’m hoping that will help. Has anybody been doing this particular workout for a period of time already and seen inner thigh improvement?
Here is my colletion of webisodes I’m gonna mix and match to give my workout new ideas…You might have it all, but just in case
1. Webisode - Abs

maria007:
Welcome!  Thanks so much for the links to the TA webisodes all in one place.  That is so very helpful, and keeps the rest of us from having to pick through numerous posts to find links in past messages.  It is so motivating to hear from somebody else who has gotten great results from TA Method, thanks for sharing!  Awesome!

Inner thighs:
Unfortunately, it seems TA forgot that body part.  Get a Pilates Circle and do 100 reps a day with it.  You can buy that on Amazon.  She kind of forgot our triceps, too.  You can also use the Pilates Circle for that, 100 reps a day.

Core Fusion Thighs and Glutes arrived from Netflix today so once I’m done watching the trainwreck Real Housewives of OC Reunion I’m gonna pop it in the DVD player. I already did my cardio - only 25mins of treadmill dancing/running - I have been getting foot cramps the last couple days.

KhoTran33,
Thank you for your response. I’ve have tried Tracey Mallett workouts in the past  (I’m a die hard workout DVD collector)and she’s very good but I’m sticking to TA ’s method.I have already been doing her workouts off and on for sometime now (alternating with The Bar Method, Lotte Berk and Callanetics) and since I’m under 5 ft tall I really dont do well with a lot of heavy weight lifting. Anyway,  I have had very good results with what I’m doing but  I wish I had a lot more time to do the full 2 hrs TA recommends and  a workout space for the dance cardio. I’m considering buying the treadmill dancing webisode and it sounds like everyone here is having fun with it. My only question before I buy is: Is anyone able to upload the webisodes onto their Ipod? It would be so awesome if I could have it on there when I go to the gym or the beach…

Thank you, I will definitely try Pilates Ring (I used to bike a lot in the past because I loved it but I bulked and now it’s pure flab…and it is so difficult to tone the inner thigs now.:)

I also followed Reviewer’s advice and for all arm series I put athletic socks (cut out toes) on my arms so there’s no loose skin flying in the air:)) it helped a lot.

You can do the Tracey Mallett 6 minute blast workouts, just don’t use anything more than 3 lb weights, that’s the Tracy Anderson Method maximum.

maria007:
I also highly recommend Reviewer’s suggestion about the arm wraps while doing arm exercises to speed up the results.

Another inner thigh exercise you can do is lie on the mat or bed with 3 lb ankle weights on, and lift one leg at a time, so that the inner thigh is doing the lifting, start with 20 times per leg and work up to 50 or even more if you can.  It’s great.  It’s one of th exercises from The Beautiful People’s Beauty Book by Princess Luciana Pignatelli.  The book is about 35 years old but it had some really good exercvises in it.

Hello all,

Ok, well - I’m just getting ready to workout…9:45pm on a Friday night.  Anyway, I am here to vent and try to get pumped up to workout.  Is it just me or do any of you else have this problem??? I swear every time I have cheat with meals and/or “tie one on” I pay for it for days.  It just pisses me off.  I really, actually eat “clean” for every meal but maybe 2 at most 3 all week (yes, all 7 days)  but as soon as I have that cheat meal/drinks I bloat and my weight goes up about 4 to 5 lbs and then it takes about 5 days to go back down with no cheating.  I guess Im really mad because last week on Sat morning I weighed in at 156lbs (i was so happy) and then sunday I was at 162 (bloated) - by tues down to 159 (dinner party that night) and 161 the next morning and now I am still trying to get back to 156….This actually always happens to me - i guess on the bright side (3 weeks ago - before tracy - it was more like 159 low and hitting 168 on bad days).  Still its frustrating that it happens every time.

sorry so long….just bummed out! - hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow.

With restaurant meals, you really have to watch the fat and salt, and a lot of places don’t even post nutritional content of their menu items.  What you could do is still try to eat clean for restaurant meals and indulge yourself with home cooking for the cheat meal.  That would be healthier.

Have you ever read the book Eat This Not That?  It can give you some really good alternative choices and has eye-opening information about what the restaurants actually put in the tempting calorie loads they charge so much money for.  Just a thought.

Stay with it.

KhoTran33-

I know, I know…it stil ticks me off.  I eat 4, carefully calculated meals a day-so about 25 to 26 meals out of the 28 meals i eat each week are golden - but as soon as i indulge it feels like it undoes all of my hard work.  and with as hard as i work out now and eating 90% perfect i just feel like I should be able to have chicken wings or nachos and beers or whatever ttwice a week without such an impact.

ok so i just read what i wrote and obviously chicken wings and nachos are no-no’s but man i like chicken wings and nachos - maybe take it down to 1 time a week.

Your idea is a good one about saviing the cheat meal for home cooked –its just not easy — and whats weird is that i cant imagine making a cheat meal for myself - even when i make foods at home for my family that are not real healthy - like tator tot caserole or whatever i never eat it….i make something else for myself and always have.  As ive said before exercise was my missing ingredient for taking off the last 10 -15lbs.

wow - im guess im bored and tired - i did do p57 - 57min workout tonight but no cardio -boo

I guess i’ll see tomorrow how much it really affected me because i weighed sat morning before i screwed up twice.

See ya then

maria007, thank you so much for posting those links!  It’s nice to have them all in one place and I never even had seen the Anna abs before — I love it!

I feel like I see results almost every day with TA — so motivating!  I’m hoping adding in some more inner thigh work will really help too.  Summer’s coming!

I have noticed my cellulite is less — I had a lot of it way down my thighs, and now it’s more concentrated at the tops of my thighs.  Has anyone had success completely getting rid of cellulite?  I know TA says any woman can have a perfect body but sometimes I feel like only surgery would really help my legs.  Not that I plan to get it, so I’ll just have to see what TA can do with me!

Hi Alisha -

Have you ever considered just chucking the scale?  Weight fluctuates even from hour to hour in a day and getting stressed about it can actually make you hang on to the weight even more.  Check out the Gabriel Method (http://www.gabrielmethod.com).  It changed my life.  Anyway, you could use measurements if you still wanted to track something, or just go by how your clothes are feeling.

atomickim- thats so funny beacuse that was exactly what i was thinking last night.  I have been a prisoner to the scale for as long as i can remember…but the one thing about it is that it truely motivates me when im in an acceptable range to work even harder…but it bumbs me out too - obviously.  I’ll check out that website - thanks for the suggestions

Alisha- I know exactly how your feeling and Atomickimis right throw the scale away!!  That’s what worked for me.  My weight goes up if I just look at cake!  It’s hard to see people that don’t work out and eat whatever they want and never seem to gain a pound.  At the rate that I work out and eat healthy I should be a toothpick.  I struggle to keep my weight in a normal range.  It seems only fair if I work out and eat healthy I should look like Tracy but that’s not my body type.  I think I’ve finally excepted this but it’s still gets to me from time to time.  Hang in there!  Your kickin ass!

weight= 160.2 lbs -     157.2
chest= 36? - not sure where i measured either 33″ or none 36″
waist=32.5? -               31″
abdomen=37? -            34.5″  (wow)
arm = 12.5? -                12.25″
hips=40? -                    39.5″
thigh=24? -                   23.25″

Well, what do you think?  Anyone else still measuring?

Those are good results, especially for just one month, and especially around the abdomen, as far as health is concerned.  Excellent Work!  Keep it up!

As far as inch loss is concerned, I have read on other forums that the biggest inch loss (not weight) has been experienced with T-Tapp exercises but they are kind of complicated to learn, even tho they only take 15 minutes a day.  Teresa Tapp worked in the fashion industry and has a masters degree in exercise physiology.  She has a book on Amazon and a free dvd comes with it with sample exercises.

I am just throwing this out there for info in case anybody has an interest.  Personally, I did the shoulder rolls in her technique, which is supposed to help eliminate bra fat, and it put my upper back muscles into spasm and rotated some ribs.  So the exercises really DO something, it’s just that in my case it wasn’t what I hoped for.  Cost me $60 at the chiropractor to fix that.  :ouch:

Thanks KhoTran33 -
not sure why there a “?” after my first measurements because I copied them a pasted them from earlier post…oh well supposed to be inches.
Just did 30 min of treadmil dance and mat dvd to lying legs and then 20 min of dancing and I am just dead today.  Its weird cuz i couldn’t get through arms and I’ve been doing them straight through for quite a while.  Its like I hit a wall today but I did get the workout in and I guess thats what counts.

There’s good days and bad days, who knows, maybe it has something to do with what they call biorhythms.  The important thing is to do something and keep going.  Even Olympic athletes are not top form all the time, they have bad days, too.  So don’t beat yourself up about it, I think we all criticize ourselves too much.

Alisha, you are doing great!!  You are getting tiny!  And your consistency is inspiring — I agree there are days I feel like doing anything except working out, and sometimes can’t do what I did just the day before, but our bodies aren’t machines.  The important thing is you are doing it!

I saw some people this weekend I hadn’t seen in a couple of months and they all wanted to know what I’m doing to get in shape, so of course I preached the TA gospel.  It’s so motivating to have people notice although it also makes me wonder how bad I looked before lol.

How do you guys feel about rest days?  I’ve been trying to workout 6 days a week, but I missed both weekend days and last night and this morning I had tons of achiness in my butt/legs.  I’m assuming this is recovery from working out all week?  Should I maybe have 2 rest days as opposed to 1?

#5237

Alisha
says:

atomickim-
Here’s the way i see it - and i hope i dont get booed off the boards for a little “tough love” but unless you are faced with an injury - taking a day off because your sore is not the greatest reason.  I only say this because I know you are like all of us and you want to look and feel your very best!  If you’ve already taken a couple of days off and your still sore I would say get in some good stretching and go dance your little heart out or do some trampoline work or even some walking because it will only make you feel better -mind, body, and soul.  We all need love and we all need tough love….so, go get em girl!
….and you could always work your arms and standing abs.

#5238

atomickim
says:

No, I didn’t take the day off because I was sore, I just skipped the weekend because my kids were sick, blah blah, blah and it was unplanned - and I noticed I was.  The reason I ask is because I remember hearing that recovery is important to fitness (it’s when muscles are “rebuilt,” etc) and wasn’t sure if the recovery or “rest” days should be taken in order to gain fitness…?

#5239

Alisha
says:

I understand and knew what you meant (probably didnt explain myself enough)…its such a fine line and you are really the only one know what is best for you.  Yes, recovery and repair happen when you rest…so, if you think your body needs it - then it probably does.  The body repairs itself the most during sleep so it is a good idea to either eat 1/2 cup cottage cheese or casein protein supplement (if you dont do dairy) to assist in recovery.

Sorry if I seemed like a unsympathetic - I’ve been giving myself some tough love too lately.

atomickim, I’ve been doing 6 days a week because I think that’s what I had heard TA said to do, but I definitely think at least one rest day is needed.  Your muscles need to repair themselves.  I’m not sure whether there’s any additional benefit from taking 2 rest days or not.  You should just listen to your body.  A while ago I was sick and had to take some extra days off, but my body needed that time to heal.

i just purchased the arm wrap and can’t wait to be healthy again and try it on while doing arm section!
i am no cardio fan, don’t dance much but it looks like i will like tracy’s  new beginner dance dvd

thanks you for the advice on inner thigs, i got the pilates ring, will add it to my workout routine

but it is also true i really really miss days i don’t work out but i think my body needs some rest too.

#5250

Alisha
says:

Well, here’s how I think those arm wraps really work….they make you sweat more and temporarily reduce excess water in your arms (like those stomach wraps).  I really don’t think the effect is permanent BUT BUT BUT if you use them everyday then you will lose water weight in yours arms everyday, making them appear slimmer each time you use them.  That’s how that belt works. So anything that will make them hot and sweaty should do the trick.  Just my perspective….someone who has the wraps should chime in and give their two cents.

Lovely ladies that use a rebounder here is your cardio workout via Ms. Anderson!  Hope you enjoy it!

dancergirl: Thank you so much for posting those links! I am so excited for all the new things Tracy is coming out with. It’s too bad I’m going to be broke.

Maria007: I bought all 3 sequences but I’ve only done Sequence 1 of the PD series. So far I’m also only slightly impressed. It’s mostly a bun/thigh workout and the arm rotations leave a little to be desired. There is a “bridgework”  exercise (I guess thats what you could call it) that is pretty difficult (at least for me) and you will feel it all over.

Hi everyone!
I am very very new to the TA method (as in, I have literally just finished my very first mat workout!) and I decided to join this site because I have real motivational problems when it comes to exercise and I am hoping that reading up on all of your success will keep me going!

I’m only going to start with the mat workout, as I think I will struggle with this at first anyway (I expect I will ache tomorrow!) but will still try to aim for 5-6 times a week. does this workout produce good results on its own? also, should i post my measurements? i noticed a separate page for it but it hasn’t been used in a while.

looking forward to sharing with you!

Hello all,

How’s everyone been.  I spent Spring Break at my sisters house and  managed to get in over an hour of TA in 4 out of the 5 days….but then I also skipped sun and Mon. workouts : ((   She is a fabulous cook and i tried very hard to stick to my diet….it was also her 40th b-day so the temptations were a plenty.  Today I weighed in at 160.0 up 4 lbs from when I left but I’m ok with it.  It is hard to stick to your diet and exercise when you are at the mercy of other people’s diets and schedules.  Today, I got up at 5:00am and got in my regular workout and it felt great!!!!

Dancergirl that was so cool of you to post that rebounder workout….I already use the rebounder and did almost all of those moves but I got some new ones from it too.  YAY!  By the way for those of you who buy a rebounder….it actually made my feet hurt the first couple of times—not sure why— but after I had used it for a while it didnt hurt anymore.

Spring is here! Amen!!!!

Hey guys!

I’m new to the boards - and I recieved TA’s mat workout about 3 weeks ago and have been doing it religiously and I love it!  I’m def. seeing more definition!  However - I’m recently coming off an injury (stress fractured foot) and have only been able to do cardio on the elliptical about 3 hrs a week.

I’m a dancer normally, so I’ve wanted to try out TA’s first dance DVD.  Yet a. I’ve heard it’s really hard on your bones (not good for a recovering stress fracture) and b. I live in a SMALL SMALL apartment in NYC.  I can barely find room to do the mat workout - so are the cardio dance DVDs not going to work for me?  I’d really like to try and then I’ll be able to scrap my gym membership all together!

Thanks!

I’ve never been to NY so not sure if this will work for you but…if you have a park near-by or lawn somewhere - you can learn the dance inside then listen to your ipod and do it outside.  Yes, people will look at you funny but its so fun!!!! I live in Iowa and know many of the people in my town so —- they are always laughing at me but I totally dont care!!!!  The beginer I new dance is only $15 and has 4 songs, plus you can learn the goop dance song too.  That should get you started and then you can decide if you want to purchase more.

Hi ladies, glad everyone is doing so well and welcome to the new people!  The more the merrier!  I am sad because I just broke up with my boyfriend — nothing was wrong but it just wasn’t going anywhere, which makes it harder in some ways because we could just as easily have stayed together longer.  I know it was the right thing but I still miss him like mad.  So I didn’t work out today but I’m going to try not to wallow and get back into my routine tomorrow.  Exercise releases endorphins, after all, which I could use some of right about now!

carmel: OMG! are you okay? I went through a really bad breakup last summer so I know how that is. My ex and I were together for 4 years and lived together for two years so my life was literally turned upside down. thats when i gained all my weight- i stopped exercising and stopped caring. so stick around!

Alisha:I am not familiar with P57 workouts. I have seen clips of them and refused to buy them because I couldn’t stand the instructor. Way too chatty and chipper for my taste. I  have done the Bar Method, Lotte Berk, Callanetics etc and they are all similar and dont seem to add bulk in my opinion, but be aware if they advise lifting over 3 lbs.

I was doing really good with working out 2x a day with TA mat and  Beginner Dance Cardio or treadmill dancing (still getting the hang of it) but the last two days all I’ve had time for is cardio. I have been taking zumba classes at my local gym…i dont know if thats exactly TA approved but at least im not running or jogging.

I recently have been struggling with some sever breakouts- stress induced i’m sure so i picked up the acne prescription by dr perricone at the library- anyone tried that diet. sounds expensive but im sure you lose weight on it too. pretty much low carb with a ton of fish.

Carmel- that sucks —I’m sure I can speak for everyone and say that your going to be better off.  Dead-end relationships can be comforting at times but they go NO WHERE.  Try and look at the bright side….it’ll be summer soon and you can spend time with your girlfriends and get out and about in places where the people you meet have the same intrests.  Who knows you may end up having the best summer yet….being wined and dined, etc. by exciting, intresting men.  Probably not what your thinking about yet but hey no harm in thinking ahead, right?

Hello new members!!! I just joined about a month ago!!! Carmel:
Good for you for recognizing a dead-end relationship and having the presence of mind to not waste any more of your precious time on that mess.

I went through a number of dead-end relationships before I married the wonderful man that’s my husband now.  What really helped me was to finally make a list of the qualities I was looking for in a man, plus I knew that I wanted to get married again, so I needed to find somebody who was as interested in a serious relationship as I was.  A lot of men just aren’t.  They go from one woman to another, like a string of mini-marriages.  I refused to go to bed with him until he committed to an exclusive relationship with me.  That way I knew he was emotionally involved and not just fooling around.  We got married 11 months after meeting each other.

All I can say is, know your own mind, pretend you’re interviewing these guys for the opportunity to be your special one, and stick to your guns.  Don’t settle for something or someone who doesn’t really suit you.

Hi All,

I am a new member. I just started TA workouts 2 days ago. I can see where I’m definitely going to need some support to get through them. I have been doing the TA dance cardio (the old one) and PD-1. I can only do the cardio for 10 minutes so far and the PD-1 I can’t get through all the reps yet. But hopefully in a week or so I can get in 30 minutes of cardio and the full PD-1 tape. I haven’t worked out in a long time so I definitely need to workup to it. I have a wedding to go to 1st week of June and I want to be tiny for that event. I hope this will get me there…

Comments re Effie Quintana website and videos:
If this gal doesn’t get herself sued for copyright and intellectual property infringement by both Tracy Anderson as well as the lady who created Essentrics, I will be shocked. “Inspired by” Tracy Anderson? How about “copycat” would be more accurate!

Years ago, people who were teaching a variation of the Lotte Berk Method were not able to use that nomenclature in any of their advertising, they had to put their own revisions into whatever they were teaching, and give it a completely different name without any reference to Lotte Berk. Why? Because if they didn’t do that, they would get sued, and one studio in New York did get hauled into court. Somehow, I don’t think Gwyneth Paltrow and Tracy Anderson have invested a lot of time, sweat, and money into TA Method just to fill the pockets of imitators.

I also think she was deceptive in a major way with Tracy Anderson by not being honest that she was a fitness professional, or trying to break into that industry, and already had a crapload of certifications in the field. I recall watching the video on the TA website about how Effie worked out with Tracy and afterwards Tracy remarked about how blown away she was at how fast Effie learned the combination and inquired if maybe Effie hadn’t done a lot of this type of thing before. I think Tracy began to suspect right then and there maybe something wasn’t entirely kosher with this gal. Go back and watch the end of that video, if it’s still on the TA website, and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

So the treadmill contest winner is actually a wanna-be fitness professional who teaches yoga and Pilates on the side, instead of an ordinary everyday person just trying to get fit at home. And on top of that, even with all her certifications — I read her resume on her website — as well as a graphic design degree where I guess website design was included in her course of study, it somehow never occurred to her to self-promote until she could ride on Tracy Anderson’s coattails. Baloney. What do you want to bet the next thing she tries to do is come out with TA Method-clone DVD workouts to sell on her website.

Even her “Back to Basics” workout on her website could have been copied verbatim from the famous Canadian trainer Craig Ballantyne. Instead of copying other people’s work, she needs to create something original, or at least an original twist on the same old same old.

I’m not silly enough to buy into her trip. She has a lot to learn.

KhoTran33: I could not agree more. Effie’s treadmill challenge was on you tube for a long time and she had other videos on there prior that hinted she was a fitness professional and tring to become famous for a long time- that is frankly why I found it surprising that she was the winner and can’t help but wonder what kind of background check Tracy and her team did before inviting her to the New York studio.

I have since decided not to do this. It just doesn’t sound healthy. I did the Joshi Holistic detox before christmas and loved it so I think I’m going to to extend that and do it for 6 weeks. It’s easy to follow and I already know it works for both slimming down and getting healthy.

Hello all

So late last week my PD series arrived and I was so excited. I’ve now tried them all and I really love them. While I understand some people’s concerns about the standing abs and arms - they’re quite different from the matwork - I really felt it the next day. For me the most exciting part of the new workouts is lower body.  I didn’t feel sequence I so much at the time but I was sore the next day.  Sequence II was tougher and I just finished sequence III and it really had me sweating.  I just know that they are going to provide amazing results.  Plus it’s so great to have new material.  Interestingly, I really felt that my back muscles got a workout.  I wasn’t sore in an ‘I’ve done something wrong’ way, I just they felt like they’d had a good workout.  And I’m now having a bit of trouble walking and sitting down - it must be a good sign!

Personally, I hate doing the same workout day after day.  I know Tracy says to do 10 days and then rotate but I hate the idea of doing that.  Does anyone think it’s a big deal if I mix and match throughout the week?  Or is the 10-day thing really important?

Anyway, I would really recommend them to those who are still deciding.

I also got Cardio Barre and I was really happy with it - there is so much packed in to the workout in such a short amount of time.  And Stacy Nemour’s Secrets of Splits and Flexibility is good - especially because I think Tracy in the new DVDs doesn’t have adequate cool downs.  Some of the stretches in Stacy Nemour’s DVD are nothing new, but others I haven’t seen before.  And she does them in a sequence that makes it easier to get into the splits, which is pretty cool.  I haven’t been able to do them since I was a teenager!  Stacy Nemour is into kung fu and martial arts - I think her body is a little bulky for my liking, and that she pumps a lot of iron - but her splits and flexibility DVD wouldn’t do anything to create that sort of look, quite the opposite I think.

I’m still on a post-Tracy Anderson workout high and wanted to share my excitement.
x

Next up for me is getting a rebounder.  It looks really cool.  And I will definitely be ordering the new dance cardio DVDs.

Hi guys.
So I have already failed miserabley at eating healthily and sticking to the mat workout. In the last week I have done the workout twice!! I know what my problem has been and that is drinking alcohol. I’ve been drinking way to much recently and found that I am only doing it because my friends fancy a drink and to be social. So, I’ve decided to knock it on the head for a while and really concentrate on my health. This also means me quitting smoking, which isn’t a problem for me because I don’t smoke a lot anyway, but again it’s a social/drinking habbit. Bit hungover today so I think I’ll workout again from tomorrow. John is home friday (YEY!!!) and I’ve got him for 12 days!!! (WOO HOO!!!!!) so its gonna be double tough to keep myself focused. But I have asked for his help and support and he will give it to me gladdly. We decided to buy eacjother little gfts for easter instead of chocolate eggs :-)

KhoTran33-

I was so annoyed when I found out about the real Effie……after she won the treadmill I looked here up online and at you tube and saw all of her numerous certifications and that she works in numerous gym/athletic places, etc. In her audition video she said she was doing the treadmill workout at one of her “friend’s gyms” and that she didn’t have a membership of her own—-COME ON!!!!!

Mary_D—-How ya doing girl??

ellabella and Chole May…..I feel like I have totally fell off the wagon too and I only missed Sunday and Mondays workouts.  Isn’t that funny especially since one of those is a planned “off” day.  Anyway, I know its so tempting to try and jump start weight loss—good luck to both of you.  I sometimes will just take one day and only eat fruit - or today I AM bloated from my “naughty” weekend and lack of exercise that I am having my EAS light or Atkins shake along with one fruit or vegetable for at least 3 meals.  Tonight I may have regular (yet light) dinner with my family or a great big smoothie with frozen berries and whey protein.  I’m still getting in about 1100 calories (which is low but not starving) it just seems to digest very quickly and I feel lighter the next day and ready to get back to normal diet.  I guess I’m posting this because I love to hear what everyone else does when they need to shed some pounds or when they are bloated.  One of my other girl friends drinks v8-fusion juice for one day.  I certainly do not suggest doing any of things for an extended period of time but I really don’t think one or two days is of any harm either.  If you are like me and sometime put your body through too much wine and the wrong foods it doesnt hurt to eat LIGHT the next day or too.

Give me some feedback — what do ya all think?

Hi Alisha,

I really recommend the Joshi detox. It’s not a fad type thing and it’s not hard to follow and if you should find yourself cheating here or there you’re still fine. You can still eat chicken, turkey and fish for protein. His book is the most disorganized thing I’ve ever read and can be a bit confusing at first but once you work through it and plan your meals it’s really quite easy to follow. The whole purpose is to clean out the junk so you can listen to what your body does and doesn’t like. I am not a fan of detox or extreme diets so it was really important for me to find one that I could truly stick to and that wasn’t too restrictive. You can get the book here. http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Joshis-Holistic-Detox-Healthier/dp/0340838426

He cuts out all fruit except bananas for the 3 weeks and things like nightshade vegetables. The purpose being that your body will then have to burn it’s fat stores for energy and that is where many of the toxins in your body are stored. Whatever the science behind it I felt great when I did it and definitely noticed the pounds shed, my skin changed (went from sallow to healthy color) and I slept better than I have in years! I am excited about doing it again. Ultimately you could carry it on indefinitely but my goal is 6 weeks. There is also a maintenance program in the book so when you finish the 3 weeks you can go on to integrating the fruits and vegatables back in and set a new plan for healthy eating. Hope this helps.

I love hearing how everyone is doing and it definitely motivates me. To those who are out with friends and having social drinks. I recommend ordering a club soda with lime. You’d be amazed how quickly you forget that it doesn’t have alcohol and you can still take part in all the fun! Additionally if you wanted to forgo the abuse that some may give you for not drinking it looks like a vodka soda so no one has to be the wiser ;o)

Ok, time for dance cardio….

Okay so I’m finally taking charge again and I’m taking my DIET and exercise plan seriously. I had been exercising regularly but my diet definitely needed an overhaul. I was eating way too many unrefined starches and sweets. I guess it’s the stress from not having a job. To make matters worse, my skin has broken out really badly. My skin was perfect all through my teens years and early to mid twenties but now that I’m going into my late twenties everything is changing. argh! I’m sure my diet and all the stress is to blame for that as well. So I went to the library and picked up The Acne Prescription by Dr. Perricone and The Perricone Prescription as well. I noticed on the site Mama Lifestyles that was posted by dancergirl the writer was following that plan. It’s pretty much low gi foods that you eat to prevent inflammation as Dr. Perricone believes thats the source of aging, acne and every other skin problem. So far today is my first day on it and I’m not starving which is good. I also did the TA Post Pregnancy workout for the first time and whew my abs are sore!

ellabella: Thanks for posting Tracy’s 3 week diet. I don’t blame you for not doing. That sounds like a recipe for failure.

I had gotten bored, and frustrated with the tech probs of unchaptered dvds and my fast fwd never works for me the way it does for hubby, so I had drifted off to a lot of other things that were along similar lines.  I was so happy to have the dvds chaptered, I started in with the Mat workout again, only got halfway through it, and pooped out.  It was truly like starting out brand new all over again!  And I have been hurting like crazy for over a day now.  Tomorrow morning I get back on the wagon, and start on Mat where I left off.  Since it’s chaptered now, I can do that.  Awesome.

I have been unable to access the most recent posts on page 53 going forward unless I click on a link from an email notification sent to me by VentPark Ranger.  Also, when I click on page 53 to read all the most recent posts, it stops and will not show those.  In addition, I now very seldom receive any email notifications from VentPark Ranger of a posted comment.

Have you changed your server?  Have you been having tech problems?  If I am experiencing this I’m sure somebody else is too and it’s negatively affecting the activity on the message board.

Thanks for looking into the problem.

Hi ladies, I’ve just finished reading through the 53 pages of this thread and am so inspired! I have had TA mat and cardio dvds for a few weeks now but haven’t actually tried either because I’m so lazy. Well, reading about all of your fantastic results has finally motivated me to get off my butt and do it! I’m also going away in 2 months with friends to a tropical destination and want to tone up a bit so I feel better in a bikini.
So I will be doing TA matt and cardio everyday but I’m not sure whether to try her diet? Has anyone tried it?
Thanks everyone for being the catalyst for making me get up off my lazy behind!

Seraphina–

That’s just how I felt when I started reading this too!

My two cents is that I wouldn’t necessarily go in for Tracy’s diet plan.  It’s a little too stringent for normal people…I would say that if you have 2 months to go and just want to tone up and feel fantastic, just do the work outs (regularly–I know, I’m lazy too), making sure to also do the cardio, and just eat clean.  You know, lay off the stuff you really shouldn’t eat anyway and fill up on water, veggies, blah blah blah!  I think you’ll still have such great results without her diet deal.
But that’s just me.

do y’all have suggestions about working out when sick? I have a cold, yesterday I skipped workout because i felt so awful, today I feel better but i’m still tired and i have a headache. I guess I could do it, but the thought of doing dance cardio makes me even more tired lol.

I haven’t really worked out in a week - I have had a bad chest cold and nearly blacked out simply walking the 5 flights of stairs at my job on monday…I’m working out tonight but taking it slow.
