Hello All –
Please don’t forget to post your reviews on the reviews board and let us know here when you’ve done that.  Somebody at another board said that unfortunately it did not look as if the Perfect Design mat workouts were chaptered, but that person had not gone through it thoroughly yet.  So I am very curious to know if they were correct, or mistaken.  I know I’d be ticked if I paid that kind of money for unchaptered dvds.  I ordered the Beginner Cardio Dance so I will be glad to post as soon as I receive it.

Good luck to all.

good idea on holding off honeyclover - i am having a nightmare of a time dealing with tracys people… ugh i wish it was over and i had my dvds!  i dont really mind if they are unchaptered… that would help me to cheat a wee bit anyways..

Don’t Tracy’s people know that the sooner they get those DVDs out and the better they work with people, the sooner we’ll all hear about how good the DVDs are and we can all order them?  I’ve been going nuts since I heard about the new DVDs and almost ordered them right away, knowing nothing.  Now I’m dying to hear about them!!

It just seems like it would be really easy to put something up on the website or send out a mass email apologizing for the confusion and then updating on the new shipping deadline for preorders.  It would be better than not hearing anything.  A coupon for a free webisode or a discount or something would be a nice gesture, too, y’know?

Good morning, I am getting really irritated with Tracy’s team. There is no reason to charge people’s credit card and then not receive any more info.  I will dispute the charge if its not here in a couple of days.  I refuse to pay my CC bill and have no further notice of receiving my shipment.  Its like free money for them.  Grrr

Hello,
I’m Alisha.  I am so so so happy to find you all.  I have had intrest in the Tracy Anderson Method for about 8 months or so.  I have the Mat and Cardio Dance DVD’s, as well as all the webisodes.  I also have downloaded every little segment from every news/entertainment show, you tube videos, and whatever else I can find.  Plus, I have a three ring binder filled with articles and workouts from her.  Ok—-so I’m a little obsessed!!!! I have been reading the posts on this site for a couple of days….it is awesome.  Anyway, I just want to say…thank you to all who are here.  How fun is this?

I’m 33 yrs. old, 5′9″, weigh 159lbs.  on my 30th b-day I made a goal to be the leanest I’ve even been and I weighed in that day at 145lbs.  I felt super hot!  Well, now I don’t - I have always been dedicated to eating a clean diet about 85 to 90% of the time and ususally my cheats are still pretty healty.  I know I would be 145lbs again if I could just motivate myself to workout.  Its crazy because I LOVE working out!!!!! The moment I start the treadmill or the video, etc. I couldn’t be happier….but for some damn reason I have a hard time motivating myself to do it.  Thats where you girls come in…..

Cant wait to post starting measurements/weights and i cant wait to get to know you all!!!

Sorry so long…i’ve been reading about you all and just wanted to you to hear some of my story too.  :)

Hey Everyone!

Welcome Alisha! I haven’t posted in awhile.  I had been doing Dove, then got bored so I started Jillian Michaels.  Got bored with that so went back to TA and also ordered her new DVDs.  Now I am mixing everything up until I receive the new DVDs.  I emailed her team and they said I would receive my order in 7 to 10 business days but I am not holding my breath.  It seems like their timelines are all screwed up. 7 to 10 days means 1 month.  Anyway, can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts on the new material.  I hope they are as enjoyable as her first dvds were.
Reviewer - are you going to do reviews on these? Are you planning on buying them?
Fitness Addict - Where are you?  I hope everything is going well. Your posts were always so fun to read. Let us know how you are doing.

Hi there, welcome back!  I thought I was the only “old-timer” still kicking around here!

Did something crazy w/ TA Dance Cardio tonight, after a strong vodka mudslide.  Played a Charleston music CD while doing the dance combos w/ the DVD sound off.  Amazing.  She keeps the tempo of the music perfectly even tho it wasn’t designed to be choreographed with that kind of music.  It was so much fun, even tho I took out all the high impact.

khotran you make me laugh!  i dont think your supposed to have a mudslide before your cardio dance lol, love it!

i have been missing fitness addict, reviewer, momof4, bella, and topanga!!!  we really are a dying crew here.. although warm welcomes to all the new ladies and even though there are lots of negatives to say about the organization behind the scenes of tracys team at least she has changed all of our bodies and therefore our lives so yay to that!

I splurged on a Treadmill with part of our tax return so I have been treadmill dancing my butt off. I’m glad to hear the dvds plan to ship soon…..hopefully :P

Anyone else have trouble with the link on GOOP to download the arm set for the ipod? I keep getting some error access denied code.

Sounds like the folks in Tracy’s organization need to take a better look at who they hire to manage their sales and shipping departments.  How customer unfriendly of them to screw all of you out of timely shipping.
I hope it all works out soon.
Meanwhile, I’m doing my hourly/4xweek workout and am, of course, noticing such a difference.  I’ve been at it over a year and I’m not bored yet.  The thing I really have to stick to is doing it first thing in the morning — right after my cup of tea.  Otherwise, I don’t do it.
Anyone else have that problem?  Keep up the great work !! Hugs, Sam

mrshoneyclover: try right clicking on the download link and chose “Save link as”, it worked for me! Although the tempo is crazy and the angel is a little weird for viewing.

I’ve been doing TA  almost four weeks now and took my measurements again this morning, last week I was a  bit discouraged because I had my period, felt bloated and then totally fell of the wagon over the weekend resulting in the worst hang-over of my life. I literally wanted to die :)

This morning I’m in heaven. In four weeks I’ve lost 11 pounds (going from 158 to 147, I’m 5′ 6″), 4 inches off my waist and 2,4 inches of my hips. And best of all, last night I went out dancing and could jump and twirl around for 20 minutes without breaking a sweat. Yay! :)

The only things I cut out of my diet were fast carbs and alcohol (although I’ve had several glasses of wine each week). What makes me the most happy is that it seems totally sustainable, I feel great and I’m in no way starving myself, I have lots of energy. Wow. I thought the method was good, but honestly not that good…

Anyway thanks everyone for posting, it’s very motivating to come back here and find new post all the time. Though I really hope Tracy’s people get their act together though, I’ve also heard that my order will ship soon (monday) and then not a word. Hmm.

I am so excited this board is getting active again!  TA Mat has already been changing my body completely.  I don’t ever remember my stomach being this flat, in my entire life, and I’m starting to see lines in my arms and stomach especially.  My butt has always been firm, but a little prominent — JLO-esque — but now it’s firm and little! My BF actually thinks it’s getting too small but I think it looks much better in jeans.  My thighs are my problem area and I haven’t seen much change but I think cardio is going to be key for that.  I’ve learned combo one and am doing it for at least 20 minutes after mat, working my way up to more — it is killing my calves so I struggle to keep going.  I can’t wait to hear what the design series is like.  I’m thinking about getting PP but my abs are doing great just with mat — what are the legs and arms like on that?  Do you recommend getting it or just waiting for DS?  Also I hope all the posters come back — I have been reading all the old posts on here to motivate myself and I feel like I know you all already!

Hi ladies,
It’s been a while since I’ve seen any sort of activity on here! Glad to hear everyone is well! =)
I am still awaiting the arrival of my precious new DVD’s!  I pre-ordered back in December, had to re-order again and am still awaiting shipment, supposedly I will have them in 7-10 business days (that was the latest email I got from them) *fingers crossed*

If anyone has any other information, or actually got a tracking #, or the DVD’s please let us know!  I email Tracy’s people every day asking for an update and NOTHING! so frustrating!

#5118

says:

carmel - PP is about 80% ab work, I’d say.  It’s killer.  The leg routine is more like a hip/butt routine, IMO and the arms are just a couple of minutes.  If you’re happy with your abs, I would probably skip PP.  Have you downloaded the webisodes off of tracyandersonconnect?  That might be a good option until DS comes…

Hello,
It sounds like I picked the right time to join-YAY!!! Its so exciting and motivating that people are posting.
Thought I’d share a funny story about treadmill dancing.  On Wed I went to the gym at the College my husband coaches basketball at.  I turned on my IPOD full bast and danced my face off on the treadmill…skipping, side saw shay, hopping here and arms in the air there.  I made it a point to not make eye contact with any of those college girls cuz I know they all thought I was crazy…but I have to say I had the most awesome time!!!!!  I love TA!!!

Need your advice….So, my abs need some major work and I am hoping that I can help tighten the skin using this method.  I have not been using any program consantly.  I am using them now…three days in a row—yay for me!  Anyway, I can get by on using the mat and webisodes for at least 2 months till I need to get the new mat work/sequence series but I was wondering….if I was going to but I workout today….should I buy sequence one or PP?

Cant wait to hear your suggestions.

Wow! I don’t even know where to start there have been so many posts lately.
KhoTran33 - You are hilarious.  I think that is what might be missing when I do the dance cardio. I bet I would ‘perform’ way better if I had a vodka mudslide and some new music. ;)
Sam Uppie – I am totally a morning person when it comes to working out. I roll out of bed, put on my workout gear, and go downstairs with my eyes barely open. If I don’t get it out of the way, I won’t do it. On days I don’t want to get up, I say to myself, “Get your fat behind out of bed!” It actually works every time no matter how tired I am.
Cirrus – That is AWESOME you had an 11 pound weight loss and lost so many inches! TA definitely has a technique to get a smaller and leaner body. I am soooo ready for whatever she has for us next.
Carmel and Alisha – atomickim gave a good description of the PP DVD. I wear hand weights when I do the arms section to make it a little more challenging since it is shorter. You do all the butt/hip work on your knees using a variety of different leg lifts. The ab work is awesome. You will definitely feel it and get results if you want an extra ab challenge. Since I am not familiar with the Design Sequence, I can’t comment on it or recommend it. Anyway, you are probably going to get a great workout with either DVD you purchase.
Belladiamondz – I had the EXACT same experience as you did. The emails say how much they care about our satisfaction and welcome comments and suggestions. How about sending out the DVDs we paid for 2 months ago? That would be nice.
Anyway, so glad it is Friday! Hope you all have a good weekend!

Thanks for the tips on the PP DVD.  I think I’ll go ahead and get it and be even more amazed with what TA does to abs.  Does anyone have any good tips for things they did that really helped their thighs?  That area is in dire need of help and I’m not sure what will improve my results.

TA is lacking on thighs, both quads and inner thigh, IMO.  My recommendation would be to get the Core Fusion Thighs and Glutes dvd because they have 10 minute sections so you can mix and match.  Their Abs and Arms dvd is awesome, too, comes with a band.

weight= 160.2 lbs
chest= 36″
waist=32.5″
abdomen=37″
arm = 12.5″
hips=40″
thigh=24″
calf=14.5″

OK I am convinced that the cardio is critical.  I feel so different after it — sore in other muscles that aren’t sore after mat and really, really energetic.  I did it 4 hours ago and still feel great! I had a confrontation with a deeply unpleasant person who might become my new neighbor (fingers crossed it does not happen) and I just danced out the stress to TA.  I’m starting to learn combo 2 now.  I really want to start doing my workout in the morning to feel this great all day but I am not a morning person so it will be a real challenge — I love the feeling in my muscles from the mat to the dance though so I want to keep it in one session.  Hopefully it will help my thighs too (and thanks for the core fusion rec, KhoTran33 – I’ve ordered it on netflix) — my upper body is getting smaller and I feel like they just look even more huge in comparison.  Ick.

So, today I did the full mat dvd and 1/2 of cardio dance….and it is day 4 of consistent working out…I haven’t worked out four days in a row since last May.  Anyway, about the cardio dance…..I learned combo 2,3,& 4 very well (last may)…but no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t keep up with combo 1.  So my advice to anyone trying to learn the cardio dance is - if you have been working on a combo for quite some time and just can’t get it - just move on.  I did combo 1 over and over and over and I was always trying to catch up - not very fun…but one day i just tried some of the other ones and they worked for me.  Being able to do three dance segments in a row is super fun.  Hope every one’s weekend is going well!

Alisha: I did the exact same thing (although my favourite combos are 2, 4 and 5), I realized it doesn’t matter which ones I learn as long as I’m up and dancing around. I avoid all the turns though because last time I did the cardio my back hurt from twisting in the wrong way and not having the abs to support it. I still just jump in place when Tracy twirls around.

Carmel: After about two weeks I started doing 15 minutes of cardio every day and especially before the mat and it really makes a huge difference, it makes me work harder at the mat and also sweat loads more. I also think it’s crucial for the work-out. Though I don’t think I’ll ever do more than 20 minutes because it’s too high impact and I don’t want to injure myself. I’ve started walking to work (40 min) every other day instead, I don’t want to do too many knee-crackling jumping jacks.

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my progress, I’m more motivated than ever! And people are really starting to comment on the change ;)

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Treadmill Questions for everyone:
I am just trying to get a feel for what everyone else is doing that uses a treadmill whether at home or at a gym.  Feel free to sing out with your two cents worth.

1.  What is your avg mph speed during the central part of your workout (not warmup or cooldown) and how long do you go?
2.  Do you use levels on the treadmill, if so what incline level?
3.  Do you keep it at the same level thru the whole workout, or do you switch from one level to another?
4.  If you switch speeds in mph during the workout, what speeds do you switch to and back again (like if you’re doing interval training type workout)?
5.  What kinds of results have you had in terms of weight loss with treadmill and over what period of time?

Thanks so much for sharing, and all your input.
Good luck with your workouts, ladies.

Today I did mat and 20 minutes of the cardio dance (just redoing combos 1 and 2) and then later did the websiodes.  I wanted to do more cardio but my calves were too sore.  I really have to work up to that.  I really like the webisodes for something different and I also did the mat to my own music, which seemed to shake it up and reduce some of my muscle memory since I didn’t have the musical and verbal cues to rely on.

In re: to the treadmill workout.  I just started this last week.  I go through the whole thing at 2.8 and I don’t use incline levels (I think that would be sketchy for me, especially on the chasses).  I don’t weigh myself, but I’ll post other results after I’ve been at it for a bit longer.

#5137

Alisha
says:

KhoTran33 –
1.  Speed – I set it at anything from 3.2 mph to 4.5 (I think) it depends on how fast the song is that I’m listening to & how much energy I have.  I will add that even at 3.2 or 3.5 if I jumping higher into the air on the side saw shay or skipping with higher knees, etc. I can get my heart rate up into the 175 plus range so for me it really only matters how much effort I put in.
2.  Incline levels – (First off - I alternate about every three min. between all the moves I do)  I will do a 3 min. segment at a 10 incline (3.5 mph??? I think) or maybe even a couple of these segments.  I will also mix up the skipping or bouncing type movements with some level of incline like 3 or 4 level – but I only do this to the forward movement, not side saw shaying.
3.  I mix it – I don’t have anything written down – just crank up the music and jump and dance around changing up what I do every 3 min. and I go anywhere from 20 min. to an hour.  Essentially, I’m doing the same things but never in the same order and probably not exactly the same speeds etc.
4. Basically same as three….I simply push it till I’m sweating hard…..Also, there are many times that I walk 1 min. in between segments to catch my breath and make it an interval type workout….plus I don’t want to get hurt either.  I alternate 1 min side saw-shay on the right with 1 min. on the left and repeat for a interval then I walk 1 min.  then I skip of 3 min. and so on and so on.
5. Use to do all Tracy’s stuff last summer in May….I have not looked that good since then….I am back on the bandwagon now.  Last week worked out 4 days straight with yesterday off.  I have been doing 1 to 2 hours each day.
I love the TA-Method and all of you!!!!

Hi Hapakolea and Carmel and everyone,

thanks for your post last night…i had sat around all day reading the other posts but just couldn’t get off my butt.  After I read yours I danced and jumped around on Trampoline for 1hr and did 30 mins of misc. TA abs, and arms.

This morning I even got in a quick 25 min bun and thigh TA workout and more abs. I plan on hitting the gym tonight for either dance cardio or treadmill dancing and another session of abs, buns & thighs, and abs.  I worked out 6 of the last 7 days but on Sunday no workout and eat horribly - gotta do double time now.

How’s everyone else doing?

danvcergirl and atomickim- I am SO excited that you got your dvd’s today!!!! I’m assuming that you got some of the new one’s.?.?.?.which ones did you get?  I called the CA studio today because of some OLD posts I read on here about buying the 2007 dance aerobics but they said they were sold out. booo  I would really like to get another dance workout because the Cardio Dance is so strenuous on the body.  It would be nice to alternate it with another one.
Mimsy -  Since I only have one dance Cardio dvd I also do the treadmill aerobics and yes the Trampoline.  It really varies how much I us it though.  I do love it.  Like for tonight…I did 45 min of continuous Cardio Dance last night and my body is feeling it…so, tonight I will spend about 45-60 min jumping on the tramp and just doing some random dancing like I was at a club and back and forth.  I switch things up on the tramp too - after good warm up I will run with high knees, or a jump with hamstring curls (like step aerobics), side twists, heal kicks….just all kinds of stuff…some times use timer and do each for a min or will count reps, etc.  I also have 1lb hand weights I wear sometimes.  I actually wrote the TA stuff the other day begging them to put out a webisode or even a short 2-3 min video on the tramp….cross your fingers!!!!
I also have an air climber and a bosu and a step, etc.  I used to teach fitness classes at the Y but now I am very careful to switch up the exercises - never spending more than 3-5 min. doing anything….except dancing of course!!!
Well, I probably said too much again, but I just get so excited now that I found ladies that love TA as much as I do.

I just recently got the Dance 07 DVD on ebay.  I think I paid $30.00.  I had to bid on several before I finally won.  Just have ebay notify you everytime somone has one for sale and you’ll eventually win!  Good luck!

Yesterday was my day off so I was so excited to get back into working out today!  I did the mat and 25 minutes of dance.  I’m still working on cardio …. I can’t wait to hear what the design series is like!  I need to take my measurements — I have no idea where my tape measure is so I have to get one and start measuring so I can track progress.  I can feel and see the results though.

Hey everyone! I got my DVDs yesterday too! I am super pumped..didnt have time to do them tonight but starting tomorrow. I dont know even know which ones to do first. I ordered the entire design series and the beginner and advanced cardio. Might as well get em all since they charge 10 bucks for shipping hehe..but anyways I am ready for a butt whooping with Tracy.  I need to take some measurements too so we can all encourage each other each week. Is anyone going to start this series along with a “diet so to say” or just maintain generally healthier eating habits? I am the worlds worst when it comes to diets. I have no will power.  :p

Yay!!! its so awesome that your all getting your dvd’s….it will pump you all up again and then the newbies to the board (like me) can get inspired by you!!!!  I would be willing to try the diet sometime soon but I have to say I have doing a new diet….here is the gist of it….two pieces of raw fruit/veggie and one whey protein shake (or 100 cal. of tuna or egg white omelet) before all meals (for me thats 4 meals a day).  If your still hungry after you can eat those 3 things you can have up to 300 cals of whatever (obviously better choices equal quicker results-but I like that fact that if I want one serving of chips and salsa or whatever is your vice - you can have it).  I started this diet pretty recently and it didn’t take long and the fruit/veggies, and whey was all I was eating for first 2-3 meals and a little of whatever I make the family for dinner.  Its been going great —- my missing ingredient was exercise and you girls.  Since I started eating this way I have been able to maintain weight even with “VERY BAD” weekends, but I was not loosing any beacause of those weekends.  I am sure the inches and weight will fall off now that I am back on the TA bandwagon.  I got in another 2 hr workout tonight because I read all your posts.

So here’s my two cents about the new dvd’s!  I did the first dvd, some of the second and tried the dance cardio.
The first dvd starts with legs.  She has you on your knees pretty much the whole time!  So, some knee pads might be needed!  It was good overall but at times she que’s for you to have your head in line with your neck and that is impossible when your trying to learn!
Next up was the arm and ab section.  The standing abs and the arm section went so fast it was pretty hard to keep up.  I’m sure in time we’ll learn but it can be frustrating.  I will say I didn’t break a sweat the whole dvd so I put in the 2nd one!  Series 2 starts with about 35 minutes of leg work with a chair.  I didn’t do it but it looks awesome!  From there it goes to abs then arms.  I was disappointed that she didn’t include any arm rotations that use weights.  I also wish she could have included the bands.  That would have made a great dvd.  I’m really hoping dvd 3 is better!
I put in the dance cardio and maybe I was just tired of learning but it was hard!   Lots of turns with specific arm movements.  I did combo one and two and had to turn it off!
I finished off my workout with the old dance cardio because I really wanted to sweat!
I’m sure once I’ve done them several times it will be much better!  I’m confident I will master these moves!!  Good luck to everyone and I can’t wait to hear what you guys think of them!!

I tried my PD I this morning.  The legs part was good - some really interesting moves that I think you can amp up (intensity-wise) once you’re more comfortable with the moves.  I’m sure I looked like a complete spaz with the arm and standing ab section.  It moves SO fast and the abs part, in particular, is difficult to see the variations.  But I just kept moving and figured that at least I was doing something.  I feel like the mat workout is more difficult (and certainly longer), but these mix it up and in time they’ll be a good challenge, too.  My current plan is to keep on w/ the mat workout 3x a week, add in the PD series 2x a week and the pp 1x.  Along with cardio.  I think I’ll be ordering the beginning cardio dvd to add in, too.  I also like the webisodes (especially the abs and arms) to add on top of the PD series…

Did mat and about 20 minutes of cardio today.  I feel like I really need to amp up my cardio and get to 30-45 minutes for results but my body hurts after about 15 minutes and I can barely keep going.  I feel so out of shape!  I can walk for miles but this is not the same!! I am going to lower the impact to go longer until my stamina improves.  How exciting to hear about the PD series!  I have to order it — disc 2 sounds really good on the legs.  I find the legs on all 4s on the webisode really hard so I’m glad there’s standing legs on one of the discs.

Hey everyone! I also got my Perfect Design Dvds today and FF through them just to get a look, first impression is that Tracy isn’t her bubbly smiling self on these series, she’s going for cool this time it seems… Except for the beginners cardio which looked like a lot of fun! Will try tomorrow.

I have a question for all of you (maybe especially those who’ve been doing the Mat for some time); in the new videos Tracy repeats her motto about “changing the work-out every ten days” to keep the muscles alert or something, does she mean the entire work-out or just parts of it? I’m a bit confused since she also says you should do the mat vid five-six times a week.

So, could I possibly rotate one of the perfect design dvd’s for two weeks and then the mat for two weeks? Or should I always do the mat and rotate the extra exercises (like web-isodes, GOOP stuff). I’m guessing the cardio doesn’t need to be changed up.

Any ideas?

Glad everyone’s so active on the board!

Cirrus,

Even though I havent been consistantly using TA method or consistant working out in general - I feel confident I can answer your question.  (FYI - I am 33 yrs old and in my mid 20’s I was a certified personal trainer and licensed massage therapist) Anyway, on to my answer…I imagine that in her studio the group classes change all the time but I bet in her personal one-on-one sessions she builds a custom routine….probably has you workout to this same custom routine over and over and over for ten days….then builds a new routine.  Get the idea….I think that if you were to change up what you do each time that you could do it for six weeks or so but after that you might need some new material….or at least add ankle weight and hand weights etc…..but at some point you would still probably need new material.  One idea would be to do mat for 10 days, then pp for 10 days, then webisodes and goop for 10 days, etc. etc. etc.
Hope this helps!

Sorry, long post ahead…

Alisha: I think you’re right, I’m gonna try PD nr 2 for two weeks (+cardio) then Mat + cardio, then maybe PP plus cardio and GOOP stuff. I’ll let you know how it turns out! It’s a bit scary though to let go of the Mat dvd since I’ve gotten such great results with it and love the weighted arms section, which isn’t in the PD series. Might do it anyway… :)

So I tried the Beginners Dance Cardio today and have to say I don’t recommend it. I got it to see if there was anything fun that was lower impact to change things up with but

first of all: it’s shot from the front, which makes it annoying to follow,

second: the steps are WAY easy and quite boring except for the Anna Kaiser thing which actually had me sweating.

Third - and this is the most important to me - there are four dances (one for each trainer)  and everyone except Anna Kaiser JUMPS OFF BEAT! Rather, they’re on the beat but on the wrong beat, instead of 1,2,3,4 they start on 2,3,4,1 etc from time to time. I know Tracy does this in the other Dance Cardio sometimes too and it’s just freaking annoying and I lose all interest in following.

The only thing I would recommend this video for is to learn the dances (takes no time) and then hop to your own music without the video. But for that it’s not really worth the money.

After that I tried the PD nr 2 and this one I really like!! Some of the leg movements are killer but Tracy changes the moves so often you don’t feel like dying anyway. I totally agree with Atomickim about the arms and abs, it’s freakishly fast. I laughed out loud when Tracy said “it’s important that you listen to my ques” and then she continued to be silent for, like, five minutes while I flapped my arms around like a turkey trying to keep up. I didn’t feel as tired after this one as after the Mat but maybe it will get harder with more control… ;)

How is everyone else doing?

Ugh I had dinner plans last night that turned into an entire night out, although since I ws driving I did not do much drinking so I’m fine this morning.  I had planned to do my workout when I got home from dinner but that did not happen!  So I had 2 days off this week.  I am going to do some extra this weekend to make up for it.  I really need to start doing my workouts in the mornings so my social life doesn’t interfere with them!

It’s a little disappointing about the PD series.  Why no weighted arms?  Why not have the dance cardio be from the back?  You would think TA’s people would have learned from the mat and other dance cardio dvds.  It almost seems like these are a step back.  I’m ordering them anyway to have more moves but it’s insane how disorganized her business is.  She could be making a fortune releasing more webisodes and dvds to capitalize on her “every 10 days” rule.

How is everyone?  Fun weekend plans?  I have a charity dinner tonight and a brunch/museum excursion tomorrow — and of course exercising!

Holy disc 3!!!  This one is a great challenge!  I’ve noticed all three dvd’s are set up the same way, heavy legs/butt, abs and some arms.  I have to say I’m disappointed in the arm rotations in these dvd’s.  The mat dvd had such a great arm section I was really hoping she would expand on that.  I will say, I”m loving the new dance cardio dvd.  It took me time to really learn the 1st combo and I feel like I got it and can perform it.  I just need to take the time to learn each one.
Cirrus- That’s a bummer about the beginners dance.  I was going to buy it but I think I’ll stick with the other 3 for now.
Alisha- Awesome pic!!  My body is the same way.  I can put on muscle with no problem at all. I would actually like to lose some of my muscle but it seems impossible.  Tracy has helped a lot with that but I’m still not where I want to be.  I think I need to tweek my diet.  I’m trying to find the right balance that will give me a lean body and not a bodybuilder!
KhoTran33- Your gonna rock these dvd’s with your Belly dance experience!! I find it’s heavily influenced by Belly dance and even African dance!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I found a really cool abs workout on the fFtness Magazine website, from 2005 but you can download the pdf of it — and it’s all belly dance based!  It tells what muscles are being worked by each move, it’s just 10 minutes, but it’s way better than the standing abs in the Mat dvd!  All you have to do is register for their website, which is free, and then you can download the pdf.

If you have trouble finding it, then I will hunt it down again and include the link but it should be easy to find.

Hello all….good job on all your workouts.

I just wanted to share with you someting new I tried today.  I thought I’d get a little creative and I took one of my resistance bands and looped it over the cable machine and then I just made up a band routine.  It was awesome…sure, it was a little goofy at first but then I really started figuring out some neat rotations and switched up direction and I could manipulate it to work my back and chest as well as shoulders and arms.  I strongly suggest trying this before your mat routine to get deeper in the muscle (like TA says).  YaY!!! I love TA.  Also tagged on some basic inner thigh leg lifts - I feel great.  I love reading everyones posts - thanks for being here.

Honestly verbal descriptions of the rotations would take FOREVER for me to describe….so how about this….I just use the bands and they are hooked up above my head….then, I take a couple steps away them to create resistance and I just do similar moves that are in the mat dvd or all the youtube video’s I’ve watched…then I turn around and face the other way and do the same things.  When you face the bands you will help work back muscles along with the all the other muscles….when you face away you’ll work chest muscles along with all the other muscles….well, anyway now I’m off.  Oh, and you can also hook them up down low by ankles and work upper chest, back and shoulders and do misc. rotations.  I just turn up the music and bust it out….one thing though is to probably need to use the “easy-resistance” bands so you can get lots of range to your movements.

Hey everyone! I’ve had a crazy week, extra shifts a work, family dinners, trying to learn PD 2 and also, I quit smoking seven days ago! It was one of the main reasons I started working out in the first place, to have a routine in place once I quit (and something to do to keep the pounds off!). I’ve been smoking a pack a day for the past five years but lately I’ve been so sick of it. Feels great so far although I’m not getting much sleep.

Seems like everyone’s been working out like crazy on the board right now, it’s really inspiring! I’m on my sixth week with Tracy and can honestly say I LOVE HER for giving me this body! That sounds totally self-absorbed I know, but seriously, I’ve never had arms like this! I could cry I’m so happy about the freaking flab being gone.

It’s like that thing with Gwyneth when she looked in the mirror and said “who’s butt is that?”. I don’t recognize my silhouette anymore. And I’m getting a lot more compliments then I could have imagined. Did I really look that bad before? ;)

The areas I still need to work on are definately upper thigh, butt and abs (although they’ve also definately improved). The PD series seems more intense on the leg work and the PP on the abs obviously, so I think I’ll try to work them into my rotation a bit more often.

How’s everyone else doing with the Perfect Design series? And does anyone know if Dance Cardio 2 is shot from the back like the old one or from the front like the Beginners Dance Cardio? Don’t know if I’ll order it if it’s from the front… I get way confused either trying to mirror (and then someone says left foot and my legs become a tangle) or thinking opposite. My mind just can’t work it!

I got interrupted in the middle of my workout by a phone call from my boss but I finished afterwards!  Naturally he called during the way arms so I had to start that part over but figure it made up for losing my momentum.  Nothing will keep me from my six days a week lol.  I have been mixing up mat and webisodes and notice a real difference in the burn in my muscles so I am going to order PD tomorrow to have more moves to change in.  Does anyone do sneaky exercise during the day?  I’ve always snuck in plies, etc while brushing my teeth, washing dishes, etc — do you think that’s ok or does it make any difference?

You don’t feel like the P57 workout does anything?  Incredible.  That’s supposed to be the toughest barre-type workouts there are!  Which one(s) have you been doing and for how long?

Tracy Anderson Weighted Arms Workout:
OK everyone, I found this at the SELF magazine website, they did an article on her last year, and it shows pictures of her demonstrating the moves and has a transcript explaining them.  You could copy and paste into a Word document for your fitness binders which is what I did.  The PD series only has unweighted arms.

Speaking of arm workouts, my idol, Sandahl Bergman demonstrates an unweighted arm workout very similar to Tracy’s material, and you can see it on You Tube.  I’m including the link below.  Sandahl was a famous Bob Fosse dancer in “All That Jazz” and went on to play Schwarzenegger’s love interest in “Conan the Barbarian” then did the Firm Classic #3 which is now available in DVD on the fitnessfavorites.com website.  That is such a tough workout it toasted an Army recruit (Amazon review).

They even have a cake batter flavor..YUM lol!  The only thing I was wondering is..I have never taken protein before..will it make me gain weight?  I am def. trying to lose a few pounds and not gain so I was just curious…I want to be small like Tracy lol like we all do  :)

So like I mentioned yesterday my DVDs were waiting for me when I came home from work. I viewd PD1 and then later attempted it. I’m so used to Mat that I only made it to the legs before I stopped. I felt very awkward with the moves…am I the only one? is that normal lol. also the 1st exercise for each leg is different. the 1st one from the butt & thigh webisode where you keep your leg in attitude. the 1st exercise on the opposite leg she straightens the leg.

Okay, so I did PD I this morning, but I put the DVD on “slow play” for the standing abs and arms and it was so, so much better for me.  She actually is doing sets, they’re just very short.  Slowing down the speed, I could anticipate where she was going with the movements and I felt the isolations/contractions (in the abs) more than when I try to mimic her at normal speed.  Seemed like a good way to learn.

Hi ladies!  I did the webisodes and some extra stuff for legs and cardio yesterday.  How is everyone doing?  I think I’m going to make some dietary changes as well — cut out alcohol, maybe dairy, less red meat (I already eat no sugar or processed foods) – to see what results I get.  I feel like I’m just sabotaging myself when I work out so much and then eat and drink bad things.  I’m just so excited about this workout because I can see real changes in my body — my arms are thinner, my stomach is flatter and my butt is smaller and I’m starting to see “lines” — I have a cocktail party to go to tonight and even though winter is just ending I feel completely ready to wear a strapless dress tonight!  That is so exciting!  I remember last year at the start of summer putting on a sleeveless top for the first time that season and wanting to die because my arms looked so fat.  Far from perfect or anything close to TA yet but better than before ….

khotran i have been doing p57 for probably 6 or 7 months now.. pretty regularly like twice a week wich is why i think its not working for me anymore.  it is a good workout but again, there are only 3 dvds and like tracy says, your muscles get smart really really quickly, and get stupid even quicker.  my body is craving new things so bad…

well i got a reply from the brothers - with a kind personal apology and assurance that my dvds would arrive shortly - and sure enough when i got home from work yesterday there they were!!  so exciting!  apparantly they got stopped at canadian customs for some reason there was all sorts of red stickers on the package.  I guess it wasnt really tracys peoples fault after all - still a major lack of communication from them though..

i popped in PD # 1 this morning and i am already aching!  it felt so good… misshoneyclover  i seem to remember feeling this awkward when i started the first bunch of dvds from tracy. i felt really clumsy but i think it will come with time. especially since she is really “dancy” and i am not. at all.  but i managed with the first dance cardio and perfected all the dvds and even have been using ankle weights with the old ones for a long time now so i am sure these ones will get easier as time goes by.  i hated the legs because it was really complicated but i definitly think i will see quick results, loved the abs and so so on the arms.   weird warm up and cool down..  definitly worth the $ and the wait though!

tracy keeps promising us new material on her method website every 10 days or so - i sooo hope she comes through with that promise - she even speaks about it on her new dvd - please tracy give us more!!
atomickin good idea to slow it down!!  i might try that with the new series - with the standing abs it would for sure help..

I too hope she follows through on the 3 webisodes every month that she mentions in the DVD interview…today was my 3rd day on PD1 - I feel much better with the leg section (that bridge is a killer my leg doesn’t go out to the side that far lol) ..the standing abs is gonna take time but I also remember on Mat it taking me some time before I had her moves down.
