The meal plans are not recommended for anyone who has blood sugar irregularities and not recommended for long-term use, only short-term — in other words, it’s crash dieting which is very hard on your body.  Tracy does not have expertise in nutrition — however, she states that in her upcoming book there will be meal plans so it’s possible she may have hired the services of a professional nutritionist / dietitian for the book info.

Hi everyone! I got great news from my surgeon yesterday that I had to share with you all.  He has totally cleared me to work out.  I’ve healed up well, and he appreciated that I listened to him and rested during these past 6 weeks.  (thanks for the stern advice, FitnessAddict) :) LOL

I was so excited to work out again last night.  I’m so mad at myself because I just loaned all my TA DVD’s to my friend last week, I’ll have them back this week sometime, but still!  I was itching for some TA!  I just did my favorite DVD from the P90X instead which was probably a good way to ease back in to everything anyway.  I felt good working out, and I feel good today.

I’m going for a short run tonight (I’ve been inspired by you runners…jealously reading about your running recently)…we’ll see how that goes.

I took my measurements last night expecting to see some backsliding, but surprisingly, I have almost all the same measurements as the last time I took them (two months ago).  So that made me very happy obviously.

And I have a new goal.  January 16th is my company holiday party.  That gives me two months to see what I can do.  I want to be solidly in a 2 by then and wow everyone with a hot little dress.  Wish me luck!!  I want to hear about everyone else’s goals too…we can cheer each other on!!

Hello!  I’m new to this board and feel so happy to have found such an inspiring group of TA followers!  I just ordered both the mat workout and cardio DVD’s— I tried the cardio DVD while I was traveling this week (in my hotel room) and felt like a complete moron.  Dance challenged is an understatement!  It also didn’t help that I had the DVD playing on my computer and it was hard to stop and fast forward/rewind to master the moves.  I only got through the third dance rotation.  What is the best advice for learning the entire sequence?  Master the first, then the second, etc?

Do any of you combine the TA workouts with traditional pilates?  I’ve been going to private sessions at a studio and many of the moves are very similar to Tracy’s– and I certainly feel the “accessory” muscle burn.

I just took my measurements this morning (arms, bust, hips, thighs, etc….) to document any inches lost—- I read that one writer (maybe the W or Vanity Fair article?) lost 40 inches in 7 weeks under the TA regime.  Those are amazing results and what I would love to accomplish!  I used to run marathons in college– but wrecked my knees with too much mileage.  Now that I’m 34, it’s not as easy to keep the pounds off and I feel like I definitely need to drop a solid 15-20 lbs.

How long did it take you all to see visible, noticeable results with the TA workouts?  I’d like to try to challenge myself to do the solid 2 hours a day until the end of the year– combined with a clean eating diet (ala Tosca Reno). What would be realistic expectations?

Thanks so much for the motivational messages– I’ve read through the last few months of posting and I feel like I know each and every one of you!

TA & Pilates — it’s my understanding Tracy was a Pilates instructor, which explains her moves being so similar.  It’s like for her PP vid, she compacted together all the most strenuous, effective Pilates moves for abs.  Unfortunately, she didn’t balance that out with back strengthening exercises, so if you do PP vid on a regular basis, you run a good chance of getting back problems.  Yoga exercises that strengthen the back, such as the Locust and another one that looks like an airplane in flight would be good, also traditional gym exercise hyperextensions.

Knees:
My advice would be to try something low impact for weight loss, such as Soul Sweat Dance, or adding Cardio Barre to the TA mix.  TA’s cardio is like jumping rope for a solid 45 minutes.  If your knees are already in trouble from running, and you persist in using TA’s Cardio Dance on a regular basis, I hope you have good medical insurance, because you will be in the market for knee surgery.

Welcome to our group, and I am looking forward to her new DVDs which are supposed to release after the first of the year of 2010.  Hopefully they will be better chaptered, and address body parts forgotten with her original set of 3 DVDs.

Hello Ladies
I am ready to lose the extra 5 kgs I have gained over the last 2 years and decided that I needed to read all your posts to get me motivated again.  I am so ready to start a whole new eating and exercise program but I am also so confused.  I am going to start with the Zone Diet Plan.  I know that my body is carb sensitive.  I just have to look at a potato and I blow up like a balloon!  About 6 months ago I bought TA’s dvds and really could only stick to the Mat Routine.  I have very weak knees and the dance aerobics were all alittle too high impact for me.  But my main problem is my back.  I suffer with sciatica alot due to some problems with my spine.  I can power walk on my treadmill but can’t run or jog without causing damage to my spine.  So my plan is to start the Zone Diet and to keep up TA’s mat dvd and I think I might order CARDIO BARRE from Amazon and give it a go.  Can anyone please tell me if it would be good for me taking into consideration the problems I have with my back and knees?  I will also keep up the power walking on my treadmill.
I am so sick and tired of feeling like a failure every day when I don’t do any thing to lose weight and get fitter.  I am 43 years old and have always been thin until I reached 40.  Now the weight just seems to go up every day!  I am around 166cm and used to weigh 57kgs.  I now weigh 65kgs.  I would love to get back down to 60kgs.
Just reading your posts today and submitting this has encouraged me and I would really appreciate any more encouragement or advice that any of you have to give.
Thanks so much.

There is a Strong Knees video put out by Gaiam that is very good.  I highly recommend that.  I also recommend you get Cardio Callanetics and Callanetics Evolution.  That also is low impact but not as strenuous as Cardio Barre.

I have been doing the mat now for a little over a week and I just got the Cardi dance on friday. I was so excited to be able to finally do both workouts.  I did the first three dance rotations and boy was it hard.  i am sure I looked like a fool. :)  I can tell you one thing though…my calves are KILLING me today.  Is this normal?  I mean I can barely walk.  I do love both the dance and the mat workouts.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should rotate these workouts throughout the week.  During the week it would be hard for me to get in more than an hour but I can for sure pull off more than that on the weekend during nap time. :)  If anyone has any suggestions, that would be awesome!

Hi everyone!! I have been reading the threads for about 1 week - ALL OF THEM!! Just to catch up! I love how inspirational you all are.

I have known about TA for a while and I have been doing the PP, Mat, webisodes (including treadmill) for about 5 months, but not consistently. I have always worked out and I noticed that since using the TA method, I AM a lot smaller, but my weight has stayed the same. I have the Cardio WO, but haven’t really used it - but I am starting a new routine tomorrow, at 5am!

Anyway, just wanted to join in the discussion. BizzyLizzy, Topanga & Momof4 you are all inspirational. Gives me no reason not to fit my workout in. I am recently seperated from my husband and I have a 1.5 year old daughter.

Oh, one funny thing. I live in NYC (originally from London) and my apt is a few mins walk (couple of blocks) from the TA studio. It is SO expensive that obviously I have never been. I wish they would start pay per class sessions, as I would totally be there.

FYI - I am 30 yrs old, 5″4 and weigh 126 pounds. Would LOVE to weigh 110, which is why I am committing to the Cardio 6 days a week :) I am a vegetarian, who eats fish a couple of times a week. I try to avoid diary, wheat and sweets. I will have a little bit of something bad every night though ;)

Looking forward to reading this awesome site regularly!

May I suggest you do Mat 4 times a week, PP 2 times a week, and cardio dance 5-6 times a week, doing the Mat or PP in the morning and cardio at night.  Tracy recommends this type of rotation, hope it helps.

So, I woke up today at 5:30am and did the Mat DVD and 30 mins of the cardio work out. It was great!

I also weighed myself and took my bodyfat measurement. I weigh 122 pounds and have 22.4% bodyfat. I weigh less than I thought, but have a higher bodyfat % :( I definitely need to get ripped by the cardio 6 day a week.

My diet is pretty clean:
B) Wheat-free english muffin, with drizzle of evoo
S) 1/2 GO RAW live “granola bar”
L) Spelt bread drizzle of evoo, with avocado, tomatoes & spinach
S) Dried cherries w/ sunflower seeds
D) eggplant and tomato bake
S) a piece of chocolate OR a sml packet of walkers crisps from London (my sister who is visiting brought them for me!)

Fingers crossed with all the working out, I will see a shift in my bodyfat % nxt week. My goal is to reach: 115 pounds and have 19% bodyfact by Xmas!!

Hi KhoTran33, the only protein I have is in the form of nuts (the LIVE Granola bar and Sunflower seeds). I try to have fish a couple of times a week. It’s hard to get protein in when I am eating a vegan-ish. I don’t want to have too much nuts, as they are high in fat. What type of foods do you eat? Also, what workout are you doing?

Appreciate the feedback!

Hey Katie - My rotation has always been a day of cardio, then a day of muscular strength (like Mon:Cardio07, Tues:MAT, Wed:Cardio08, Thurs:PP).  It worked for me in terms of weight and inches lost and also in terms of avoiding injury.  Plus, haha, in terms of not getting bored doing the same thing every day.

TracyFan - Welcome!!  So glad I could be an inspiration to you…I’ve always gotten so much inspiration from the girls on here.  Good luck on reaching your goals!!  You can do it!! You mentioned Topanga - I haven’t seen her around her lately, where are you girl???

I restarted the cardio this week (after two months off following gall bladder surgery).  Wow, I got thru 07 ok, but man, 08 kicked my butt!!  I am happy that I remembered all the combos…I think it’ll be a while before I can actually do them all without stopping to breathe though, lol!!

I will believe TA is coming out with 5 new DVDs in December when we are actually able to order them!  And TA’s people keep changing the date!  I hope, this time, they are actually correct.  We are absolutely starving for new material.

tracyfan:  I’m with Kho.  You diet is really deficient in protein.  You absolutely need to consume a lot more lean protein.  I am a fish-eating vegetarian (pescetarian).  Include some whole eggs and egg whites (if you’ll eat them), nuts, nut butters, beans, tofu, veggie burgers/chicken (like Boca /Morningstar Farms/Annie’s products, even though I don’t like processed food), etc.  (Morningstar Farms products do have a questionable ingredient in them but, unfortunately,  I am hooked on their Chipotle Black Bean burgers.) Try and eat some fish.  It’s so good for you. Fibrous carbs are good; starchy carbs are not.

And you need to put on some lean muscle to bring down your bodyfat. (Don’t lift heavy - go for muscle endurance - light weights, lots of reps.  But lift enough weight so that you feel it. I wouldn’t go over 5 pounds.)  Muscle burns fat even while you are at rest. Page through some of the old posts; we have discussed this topic at length in the past.

FitnessAddict thx for your advice. Since Kho left her post, I joined DailyBurn.com (which some of you have talked about in the past) and I started tracking my food, water and exercise. Boy was I surprised at how much carbs I was eating! And you were both right, not enough protein at all.

Now I am recording what I am eating, I am able to see where the holes are in my diet. I know I need to eat more fish, so I have already started adding that. I don’t eat tofu or soy as it is not good for you, as they are man made, full of chemicals and linked to cancer.

I will definitely include more nut butters. Maybe I can look in to making my own veggie burgers?. Oh, and I LOVE Quinoa, so I will be eating more of that, as it is a great source of protein.

Thx for the advice everyone ;)

I am so praying she brings out more DVDs. 5 would be awesome, a different one everyday. Here’s hoping!

I’ve had to shorten my TA workouts to one hour.  I do the standing part of the Mat dvd and then 20 minutes of cardio one day and the next day I do all the abs in the PP dvd and 1/2 hour of cardio.  Those are the two hour long workouts I do.

Hey all,

I haven’t posted in a long time, but I have been keeping up with all your posts.

It really is a pity that the “traffic” has slowed down sooo much.

I’m so excited about the possibility of 5 NEW dvds! That would be awesome. We really have been starved. Also looking forward to the , sorely needed, update of the TA method site.

At the start of the TA2 launch in Japan clip I though “ah, this is just the ab work form the PP dvd” but then she threw in some of the moves from the Daily10 clips. So I guess it is a new routine!!

On another note I was reading an article on Shakira in a magazine that comes with the Sunday paper here in Ireland. It mentions that a small room, in the back of the building she is recording her album in, has been transformed into a gym with elastic bands hanging from the ceiling where a pretty petite blonde trainer is waiting for her. At first I thought it was TA herself, but then I remembered reading somewhere that S’s trainer is the girl from the connect webisodes. Anyway, what I thought was particularly interesting was that it mentioned there was a step machine in front of a mirror which she uses every day. I can’t remember how long she uses it for, I think it said 45mins, could be wrong. At one point S says “I do squats until my leg falls off”. But she could be referring to the leg sequence and the writer misunderstood. I just thought you guys might have been interested.

See you later

Hi Everyone –
I don’t post here a lot but I do try to visit a couple times a week.  So keep posting.  Is there another chat room everyone is going to?

I’ve been doing Tracy’s workouts for about a year now and have been bumming that my size has not gotten as small as I’d like — can’t fit into pants as well and all that.  But last week a photographer came into my classroom to take publicity photos and the baggy pants and baggy sweater I thought I was hiding all my pudge under looked hot on me.  I really looked slim.  I was blown away.  So I really recommend you have a friend take unposed photos of you in street clothes — full body.  I think you’ll be pleased and you’ll see yourself as others see you.  Would I look as hot in a bikini?  Maybe not.  But I don’t go to the grocery store in a friggin’ bikini do I?  Here’s to another great year with Tracy.  Keep up the wonderful posts.  Be well, Sam

Wow it’s great to finally see some life back here!

Welcome to all the new posters.

Looks like the new content is just what this place needed. I just watched the free workout I received. It doesn’t look a whole lot different to TA’s other stuff but I’m curious about the towel element, can’t wait to try it!

I missed the Daily 10 with the bands! Noooooo! lol. I really want to see more of the band work. Anybody know if it is online somewhere?

As for the Daily 10 show, on Wednesday I missed it…does anyone have a link for it posted online…E! never puts things up like that!  =(

I got my new webisode as well. I was not too thrilled with doing it with a towel even though doing 30 reps of each did burn, but then I decided I would try it with the resistance band…and man did it burn..lol. My arms and sides are killing me now. Tell me what you guys think if you try it.

Please if someone finds the video from the daily 10 then please post! I missed it as well. It would be cool if she did some arm, leg and ab work with the resistance bands. I am so excited about her new vids! I can’t wait.
I got an email saying that they should be shipping the new dvds out towards the end of January, and that her new website will be up on the 15th…but as with everything they have said so far its just makes ya go hmmm!…i guess we have to see it to believe it!

Have a great day guys!

Hi Momof4!  So glad you are still around!  Great to hear from you.
Things are going great with me and my workouts.  I just started doing TA’s PP DVD again last week, I have a work party this Saturday and want those flat abs!  I have to say, after only a few times of doing it, I already have results.  She is amazing.  After a year of doing her workouts, I still love them.
How are your workouts going?

I have started her PP up again and man does that one leave me sore!  I’m dying to get her new DVD’s.
I bet you look amazing!!   I’m doing her Mat or PP every morning (6 days) and then an hour of cardio.  I’m doing good with them but really want the new DVD’s.  I’ve gotten a lot of compliments so I know it works.   Are you still working out every day?

Hey girls, yes I’m still working out everyday, but only for an hour.  Good for you Momof4 doing two hours!  You go girl!  I had stopped TA for a while and did Dove exclusively…when I took my measurements I found that I’d gained some inches places.  Needless to say, I was NOT happy.  I’ve been eating the same, so it most likely was due to going away from TA.  I learned my lesson and I’m back to TA.  Doing the same rotation I did all last year, MAT or PP one day and then Dance the next.  It worked so well for me, I really hope to get those inches off again quickly.  I mean, I’m still like a size 6, which I am happy about, but I’d love to lose a bit more, especially in my belly.

How long until you guys receive your new DVD’s?

Hi torontomom-I did catch regis and kelly, that was funny.  it really got me psyched for the new DVD’s.  I think it’s going to be a killer wo.  I can’t wait!  I haven’t ordered yet, but will next week.  Had to give a breather on spending.  Also, I heard they won’t mail out until beginning of Feb.  BUT I need them pronto since Summer is around the corner!
Bizzy-you will get those inches back off.  I’m positive, b/c I’ve taken TA breaks (well to be honest wo breaks LOL) and she never disappoints.  After 6 wo’s, I’m noticing the results again.  I’m just sooo excited for her new DVD’s.  Fitting in 2 hours is tough, but I wanted quicker results.  And I have to say, as hard as it is to fit in, I love the way I feel when I’m done.  I have so much energy and less crabby so it’s win win.  I was also told on Christmas how long and lean and tiny I look so it’s worth it.

I have heard so much about Tracy and was very curious. I teach various formats of fitness classeses and was skeptical I just recvd the mat workout DVD and wanted to watch it before I tried it. While the setting/background isn’t horrible (I’ve seen worse), the cuing is almost nonexistent, there’s little to no mention of form during many of the exercies. The production of the DVD is close to amatuerish. I’m just wondering - does Tracy really have any verifiable dance experience? Did she really ‘design this workout herself?’ Some of the moves look like old Jane Fonda and old Callenetics stuff to me.
Thoughts?

KhoTran33
says:

Hi anonymous — & we’d love to have a name for you –
Yes, a lot of it is recycled Jane Fonda, Tracy says JF was a great inspiration to her, nothing wrong with that, Jane was always terrific.  Since Callanetics was based on Lotte Berk exercises, which was based on ballet, any ballet-type exercises are going to have a similar look to them.  Tracy uses full range of motion movements rather than the tiny pulses Lotte Berk exercises are known for.  Dance credentials — all I know is that Tracy’s mom owned a dance studio in Indiana, and growing up in that industry showed, in a good way, when she taught the cardio dance combinations.  I thought that was very organized and professional and that she did an excellent job with the teaching.  I just can’t handle the jack rabbit jumping 45 minutes at a whack.  BTW, if you jump rope for 10 minutes that’s supposed to be equivalent to running one mile.  Hope this info was helpful to you.

Hi everyone I’m new here. Or rather I read a lot of your posts a few months ago and then found my way back.

I thought I’d introduce myself, I’m a woman, 26 years old, no children or boyfriend and trying desperately not to want both those things too desperately. I’m at the top of the “normal” BMI standards and I think I look alright. With my clothes on. When I take my clothes off people usually look surprised! Something to do with the wobbly bits and the fact that I masquerade them pretty well :) To be honest, I’m pretty comfortable with my body but really want to be stronger and leaner again, and also look good in a bikini! I usually wear a hat, a woolly shirt and mens swimmingtrunks to the beach. Imagine the tan!

I did TAs mat workout most of last fall and saw some really good results and then - for whatever stupid reason - I stopped! Now I’m back on the horse and feeling just as sore and strangely energized as before, really looking forward to her new DVDs. I recently changed jobs and instead of running around carrying heavy stuff eight hours a day I’m now sitting perfectly still. I had no idea it would make such a difference!

I have a question that’s not entirely related to TA, but maybe you guys have some advice, you’re certainly motivating me. My mother is in her fiftie’s and has been very obese for the past five years and I worry about her all the time, I think about diabetes and everytime she says her arm hurts I’m thinking it’s her heart. I know from experience that I can motivate myself but I have no idea how to get through to her! She’ll start a diet and then another and have absolutely no results, because they’re too extreme and I’m convinced she’s even lying to herself about what she’s eating. I try to be supportive and just give small bits of advice - like walking 20 min a day, a bit more protein and less fast carbs and I know she’d loose a lot of weight right away - but she doesn’t listen and the last thing I want to do is badger her about it or make her feel bad about herself. I love her and think she’s beautiful in every way but her health is constantly on my mind. Maybe I should be tougher but I know I never responded well to someone else telling me I needed to loose weight.

If anyone has advice, I’d really appreciate it!

Anyway, I’m happy I’m posting here just for my own sake to make sort of an official statement that I’m working out again. I promise I’ll post some results when I see them :)

Hi Cirrus 13 & Welcome!
Allow me to suggest something really easy with the dieting.  “I Can Make You Thin” and can’t remember the name of the professional hypnotist, but the book with the CD is sold at Barnes & Noble.  My husband and I are getting ready to try it as part of our arsenal.  People have had good results with it, and who knows, it might work for your mom if she doesn’t have the discipline or nutritional knowledge to properly diet.  Good luck!

KhoTran33:
I’m anonymous but my screen name is phcva. I tried her mat DVD for the first time yesterday. I did the standing legs, standing abs, arms w/o wts, legs on mat, abs on mat. I did not do the arms w/ wts coz, at home, I only have 5 lb - 25 lb wts. Nothing less than that.
I’m not really interested in her dance cardio DVD. I run (short distances) and teach spinning (both nonTA approved, I realize) but I do not like dance-y choreographed stuff so I’m gonna stick with what I like.
I teach fitness classes of all types so it’s going to be difficult for me to fit TA in. Plus, she doesn’t want you to do anything else, well, I can’t just do TA coz I’ve gotta teach.
As for the exercises I did yesterday from her mat DVD, I wasn’t sore from the leg stuff and wonder why. While I was doing the arm work (w/o wts), my shoulders were on fire! Today my shoulders are only a tiny bit sore.  Of course, I’m sure they would’ve been sore had I also had a light enough wt. to use for the weighted arm work. I will have to purchase a set of 2-3lb wt.
As a fitness instructor, my concern is we are not working all of our muscles. I don’t think Tracy feels that working all muscles is important. Her goal is to become ‘teeny tiny,’ as she says. I just don’t think it’s wise to only work some muscles and not others.
I wonder what a TA workout in her gym is like. If you are hanging from that bar contraption I bet you work all of your muscles. I wonder, can we really get ‘teeny tiny’ from doing the mat DVD (and dance DVD) or do we really need a more intense workout like one at her studio? I understand that’s impossible for most/all of us, it’s more of a rhetorical question. She doesn’t just do the DVDs but yet we want what she’s ’selling,’ right? And she’s selling being teeny tiny. Is it possible with just the DVDs?
Okay, that’s enough, I’m rambling………..

Hi and Welcome, Cirrus!  Your post really spoke to me.  I swear I got into the 10-years-back time machine and wrote it.  By the way, I know what you mean about the job thing.  I went from college (lazy and beer drinkin’) to the real world, which suddenly involved lots of stairs and walking in heels…the first few weeks I was dying and then I didn’t notice.  And then I moved and changed jobs and it was just like you–I was like, what happened to my effortlessly beautiful toning action?
My aunt was very obese, and, like you with your mom, we obviously loved her a lot–it was so frustrating, because we felt like we knew best (I’m sorry, and we DID) but she’s an adult, so there’s only so much we could do…anyhoo, back to you…Dr. Joel Fuhrman has a book, “Eat to Live” and a really similar but simplified 2-book set called “Eat for Health” (also CDs).  He is a miracle worker!!  Love, love, love!  Did I say love?!  Please look into “Eat to Live” for your mom…I think it could make a huge difference.

So, I’ve read this discussion board for almost a year and never posted.  I jumped on the Tracy bandwagon just after having twins, as I needed an “at home” fitness option as I transitioned back into some of my old routines.  I saw results from the MatDVD, different than I expected.  My body changed shape in a great way.  But I wasn’t consistent, as I needed the cardio and her dance workouts don’t do it for me.  I found myself back in the gym and that works for me too.  Now that she’s coming out with new material (finally) I’m once again intrigued…but like others that have voiced concerns - is she going to give us a better produced, full-body experience this time?  I’m hoping so, but look forward to hearing feedback from this group before I make any purchases.
ps - it’s cool to see this board active again.  will fitnessaddict ever come back?

I’ve been doing TA for over a year now and really notice the difference in my stamina, strength, and physique.  I’d like to lose about 10 more pounds but that has to do more with being 45 and being smarter about what I eat.
My Health Goals for Feb.
1. TA four times a week — now I do 3
2.  More veggies at lunch and dinner — I get lazy about preparing these
3. 8 - 9 hours of sleep a night — or 7 plus an nap

Hi,

I was just reading about the band system on TA’s site. They sound so good! Ever since she started talking about them I have been dying to use them. She also mentioned bands for the ceiling AND floor. I don’t think she has ever shown those?

Did anyone manage to find that D10 segment she did a few weeks ago with the bands? I missed it.

It seems all the gals that have actually trained in TA studio in LA don’t post here anymore. (Where are you TOPANGA?)

I know a few of us where planning on constructing our own bands at home, just curious to see if anyone did?

In case you can already tell, I’m obsessed with the bands!! Lol.

I’ve been doing the mat + 15 min of cardio one day and 30 min of cardio + the weighted arms section (I’m nowhere near doing it straight after the other one) the next day for a little over two weeks now, and my jeans already fit A LOT looser! Yay! My face, arms and waist are noticably slimmer but I think I have to work more on the lower half. I hate that point and flex thing! :)

I’ve also kicked my sugar cravings and filled my freezer with fish, shrimps, chicken and berries, my fridge with vegetables and my cabinets with nuts, seeds and beans. I feel better than I thought possible! And I sleep better. But of course I’m also on a high because it’s all new to me.

So my goals for February are basically to keep my rutine up (even if I loose some mental steam) and do it with more intensity the stronger I get.

Good luck everyone!

Fun cardio dance idea
Because I don’t do high impact, I had not used my TA Dance Cardio in quite a number of months.  However, I like a lot of her music selections.  So I pulled it out the other day, put it on, turned my back to the TV, and proceeded to do dance combinations from “Soul Sweat Dance” which are totally low impact.  It was fun, creative, kept me thinking the whole time, and made the workout more personal.

Abs clip on TA website comment:
I notice that in the clip of Anna Kaiser demonstrating the standing abs, it has changed from what was shown in the Mat Workout.  In Mat, TA just moved her rib cage back and forth, like a tabletop across her pelvic area.  In this latest video, there is a lot of hip involvement, which is an exaggeration of classic belly dance moves.  However, the verbal instruction is given, to keep your abs locked the whole time you are doing these movements.

I guess I must be a tough case with the abs body part, because a number of years ago I was a professional belly dancer for 3 years and also taught.  My abs did not look like that, they have to have much more intensive work to look like anything decent.

Hi ladies!  I am so excited to have found this forum!  I just started TA 3 weeks ago.  I am obsessed with it.  My sister won’t even listen to me talk about it anymore so I’m glad I found you all.  I am already seeing results in this short time and every time I do it I feel tighter and more lifted.  I have committed to doing mat 6 days a week.  It’s amazing how much stronger I’m getting.  Yesterday for the first time I was able to go straight into the weights from the wavy arms without a break.  My new goals are to add in more cardio and stop drinking away my results.  This is hard because my boyfriend is a lobbyist and we go out and entertain a lot.  Ugh.  Need more willpower around good wine.

Welcome, Carmel!
I’m in the same boat as you–and my boyfriend is also to blame!  Ever since we moved in together, there’s a lot more alcohol around…I’ve found, though, that if I make myself “pay” by not skipping work-outs, eventually you start drinking less and less naturally.  But I also know what you mean–I used to work for a lobbying firm in DC (is that where you are?) and between the “meet and greets” and the cocktail parties it was sort of a nightmare.

Thanks for the welcome!  I am so happy I found this board.  I have been reading all the old posts and just hope it becomes even more active now that Tracy has new dvds out.  I live in Indianpolis, so it’s not quite as crazy as DC, although I would love to live there sometime.  We are in session right now so once its over (we only go part of the year) the temptation to drink should let up.  I didn’t exercise for about a year (painful divorce — I just ate and drank whatever to make myself feel better — didn’t really gain much, thankfully, but definitely got flabby) and I’m excited to get into shape although I feel its an uphill battle.  Everything is loose.  But I have confidence in TA’s method.  I already did the mat today and will try to do cardio later.  Cardio is my downfall.  I’d rather do mat twice a day than cardio so I’m trying to overcome my resistance to cardio.
