Prayer button broken
(178 views)You know the part “pray to God–he answers our prayers”? Doesn’t that mean that everyone can have any prayer answered? Or is it under special circumstances only? Like if we’re sincere enough.
Not trying to be a complete smart ass here just wondering how everyone justifies this statement. What if I pray for a new car? A healthy body? World peace? Am I going to recieve blessings just from one prayer? Several prayers? It all seems wishful thinking or maybe it was written down wrong thousands of years ago.

Twitter Response says:
it’s a bit of a cliche - but God does answer prayer. He just sometimes says no.

Yeah well what’s up with that? How do we know when it’ll be no? Or why?

Ok, this is how I explained Wicca to my mom. In the loosest analogy form possible: When you pray to God, you’re praying to the president of a company. Let’s say Walmart, for example. If you were to write a letter to the Prez of Walmart, consider that he gets all kinds of mail from people asking questions. He has other things to do, rather than just answering mail. Not that he doesn’t care, he’s got a hundred people tugging on his sleeve about stuff. If you want to know where the toilet paper is, don’t mail the Prez. Find a stockboy at a store near you. If you are praying about money, pray to a god of luck or money. As long as it does not seek to harm, you’re on the right path. The stockboy may be busy, but he’s the one who that job was farmed out to handle. Just remember, he may be out of toilet paper.
Yeah, it’s mildly blashpemous in so many directions, but if you just look at the core concept…
An answer of “nope” to a request may not be about you. It is a following Fate’s web (or God’s plan) thing. You not getting a particular job means someone else gets it. What if the other person being hired, they need to be there for some reason…to meet a future wife? To have insurance when they get diagnosed with cancer… I guess it depends on the weight of the change in the pattern of fate.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it is that God has a great sense of humor…and I’m learning to laugh with his jokes because I’m pretty sure He likes it when we do
I do believe that God hears all prayers, He wants to know us more and wants for us to want to know Him more. (Does that make sense?)
God answers our prayers in so many ways, it is impossible for us to realize how he answers prayer sometimes until years and years later. He does things on His own timetable; and it is frustrating to us when His timetable does not coincide with ours. Yes, it does seem as if God has too much to do to know my heart and yours, but the Bible does say ”His eye is on the sparrow.” By the way, that’s a great song, if you want to google it, I recommend it, especially for someone with a sincere question about prayer
I do believe that God searches us and knows everything we do, before we rise or lie down, he is with us, through and through. Before a word is on our tongue, He knows what we will say. His presence follows us, day by day. (that’s taken from a Psalm). props to David.
peace,
Kim
