I’m tired of a Two Party System
(296 views)It is indeed true that voting for a third party is essentially just a vote for whoever wins. But why should it be that way?
Honestly, to me, it seems absolutely unconstitutional the way our government gives preferential Treatment to what are supposed to be private parties organized by the citizenry.
Why are primaries run and overseen by the government? Why are the Republicans and the Democrats given a guaranteed spot on the ballot?
Why are we only given two real choices? I just voted for Mccain because i figure he’s SLIGHTLY less likely to screw it up than Obama.
Why? I’m fine with having thirty different names on the ballot! Isn’t that how a democratic republic is supposed to be?
Third parties should be real options, and all parties need to be treated fairly by the government.

not to mention that the televised debates are also “fixed” by the two parties. the two parties get together ahead of time and work out the format and what questions will be allowed so that the candidates can figure out their pat answers ahead of time. and they won’t let a third party candidate in on the debate if they can help it. it’s not really a debate. it’s more of a showcase.

Does anyone know the history of the two party system in America? I wonder during which period in history it started and who was responsible for it. Surely it wasn’t set up that way by the Founding Fathers.
