For those Undecided voters who voted for Hillary.

If you voted for Hillary & are now undecided, I question why you were voting for Hillary in the first place.  If you were voting for Hillary based on her ideals, beliefs & proposals, then Barack Obama has basically the SAME beliefs, ideals & proposals as Hillary.  Whereas John McCain believe in THE EXACT OPPOSITE of Hillary.  Why then are you still undecided?  It makes no sense.

Well, I will try to explain it to you, at least from my perspective as a disaffected, undecided Hillary Clinton supporter.

Please remember that the reason that many people, like myself, looked at not only ideology, but also other attributes, in making an initial candidate selection this year.  I, for one, looked around and saw a jacked up world fraught with terror, and concluded that ideology, while important, was actually trumped by leadership capabilities.  Agreeing with Hillary on most issues, I voted for her in the VA primary because she also had the powerful combination of experience, executive leadership style, and judgment that both Barack Obama and John McCain lack.  It is these attribuites that are necessary when the (cliche) 3 am call comes–and if you have looked around lately, it will become apparent that the next four years will be filled with 3 am calls.  In such an environment, leadership qualities are more important than ideology.

Oh, and by the way, the first 3 am call for the 44th president came two weeks ago with the bank bailouts.  Obama showed himself woefully lacking in experience and understanding of the issues;  McCain in judgment; and both were seriously deficient in terms of their ability to paint the vision forward for the country.

This is how a Hillary voter–at least this one–remains undecided.  I am a Dem-leaning Independent (in my state, Independents can vote in the primaries), so the arguments about party and ideology are less compelling to me than perhaps her Democratic backers.  I am looking for a leader.  I am looking for a real president.  In Hillary Clinton, I saw a real president.  In Barack Obama and John McCain, I see two pretenders who would play office in the most serious job in the free world.

So, although I will vote because it is important that the next president be accountable to all Americans, this is why I remain undecided.

I do hear what you’re saying, yet it’s hard for me to understand why you don’t see Obama as a leader.  He actually, (besides being first lady, lol) has alot more experience then Hillary.  He was in the Illinois State Senate for 6 years BEFORE becoming a National Senator in 2004, FOUR years ago.  That’s 10 years of Senate experience.  In addition, he is a Harvard Law School Graduate & was a Law Professor as well.  (John McCain graduated 3rd FROM THE BOTTOM of his class.  I don’t know about you, but I’d like an intelligentperson as President.)  Obama’s voting record in the Senate & the bills he proposed can all be seen on Congress’s Website if you want to look.
What all undecided voters need to think about are the specifics of what each candidate wants to do as President.  For example, let’s take health care.  I don’t know about you, but our family of 4 spent over $15,000 on healthcare in 2007.  Under McCain’s plan, individuals would receive $2,500 each year, & families would receive $5,000 yearly toward HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS.  That certainly wouldn’t help us much, especially since that $5,000 would then be taxed as part of your income.  In addition, people who have no health care because no company will insure them due to a pre-existing condition, STILL could NOT get ANY health care under McCain’s Plan.  If you work for a company where you get health insurance & you develop Diabetes or heart problems, etc while working there, if you get laid off, guess what, after your COBRA runs out, no one will even insure you.  Plus, McCain’s plan does nothing to control increase after increase in premiums by insurance companies, especially if you get sick.  If you become ill, the insurance co. will increase your premiums til you can’t afford it anymore.  I’ve seen it happen to people.  With Obama’s plan of National Health Care, everyone would receive benefits.  He has outlined exactly how he will pay for this.  Moreover, do you want our troops in Iraq for many years to come? With us spending billions of dollars each month that we need at home?  If you know the history of Iraq, the people there have been fighting with each other for hundereds of years.  The only reason the surge worked was because with more troops on the ground there, the violence was lowered.  But once we leave, whether it’s now or in 100 years, the people of that region will continue to kill each other over their differences.  THERE IS NO WINNING IN IRAQ!  No matter how long we stay.  Plus, the republicans, including McCain, have cut the funding over & over for the returning injured soldiers.  Is this putting country first?  I could go on & on.  PLEASE look at what each candidate stands for.  PLEASE look at their voting records & what they & their Party represents.  PLEASE!  I beg of you.  This country is in trouble DUE TO THE REPUBLICAN Rule for the past 8 years.  Even when Democrats won a SLIGHT majority 2 years ago, they still did not have the 60 votes needed in the Senate to pass the bills so important to us as a people.  Even when they did get the votes, Bush vetoed thos bills.  So PLEASE, as I know you will, really think this through carefully.  Another 4 years of Republican rule, especially with McCain, will be DISASTEROUS for America!!!

I like BALANCE in government.  That’s why I’m voting McCain-Palin.  The Democrats have both houses.  That’s enough POWER for them.  Keep it balanced.  Vote McCain so Hillary will get her chance in 2012.

What do you believe in then?  Do you believe in the ideals of the Democrats or the Republican Party?  You can’t believe in both ideologies because they are complete polar opposites.  In addition, when the senate has a majority of one party, & the President is of the opposite party, 99% of the time nothing noteworthy can get passed because either the senate won’t have noughvo, ohsiddnl vohe bills passed in  the Senate, and nothing gets done.  Why do you think the Democratic Congress couldn’t make headway on any of the bills they tried to pass the past 2 years?  Because they were vetoed by the President.  You need to decide what values you believe in & vote based on those values.  Do you want Social Security to be Privatized?  If it had been privatized during this economic crisis, most would be3 losing all that they ever put toward Social Security.  Privatization means investing it.  That’s what the Republicans want.  Do you want Healthcare at a reasonable rate for yourself & your family?  Or do you want McCain’s small tax rebate that still won’t give coverage to those with a pre-existing condition.  It also won’t cover ore then

Well, actually, Obama has far less experience than Hillary.  She was an executive at a law firm for 15 years.  She ran an educational task force that bumped Arkansas up from 49 to 39 in the national rankings in 5 years by taking on corrupt teacher’s unions.  She has been in the US Senate dealing with national issues for four years longer than Obama–and, unlike Obama, she showed up for more than 143 days.

In the end, though, it is not about Hillary Clinton anymore.  Unlike pwalsh 67, I will not be “strategically voting” to ensure Hillary gets a shot in 2012.  (By the way, pwalsh, that approach has no future.  The best way for Hillary to ever become president is to elect Obama, and then run herself in 2016.  If he loses in 2008, she will never be nominated in 2012.)  Much as I wish the nominee were Hillary, she is not, and it is now up to Barack Obama to convince me of his qualifications.  Thus far, he has utterly failed to do so.
Now, McCain has not sold me on his suitability for the job either.  That is why Obama could still get my vote.  But I want to know:  when the 3 am call comes, who will have the best answer?  Who will know what he needs to do, do it, and then get up the next morning and reassure the American people?  Hillary Clinton was without question capable of this, given her experience, issue familiarity, and judgment.  McCain’s judgment is poor, but his issue familiarity and experience surpass those of Obama.  Damn, what a compelling choice we are now left with!

I am a moderate who would have voted for Hillary against Mccain had the option come up.

I can tell you that Obama and Clinton are very different. Clinton is experienced, Clinton is willing to compromise when necessary. Clinton does not have the questionable ties that obama has.

I am an independant, so i did not have the option to vote for hillary against obama. But I am definitely voting for McCain against Obama.

I believe in SOME Republican ideas (right to life, right to bear arms, etc.) and SOME Democrat ones (Environment, etc.).  I believe McCain has served his country proudly as a Naval Officer, a P.O.W., and as a Senator.  I dont know of ANY Obama achievments other than palling around with an anti-American terrorist and going to a racist church for 20 years.  To us it’s an easy choice: McCain-Palin.

You all are the ignorant people that make a decision based on absolutely no REAL knowledge.  How often do you read the paper, the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, etc?  Have you actually gone to the Senate’s website & researched the Candidates & their contributions?  How often do you watch CNN or MSNBC.  You people are the ones the McCain campaign counts on to feed their soundbites filled with lies & half truths.  Why don’t you actually learn about the candidates in depth before making such an important decision.  You are SOOOoooooo Wrong about the comments you made above.  The only people who will vote for McCain in this election are the Rich Selfish ones & the ignorant ones.  Anyone with an ounce of intelligence who actually does their homework before casting their vote knows that Obama never “palled around with terrorists”.  You should be VERY AFRAID of a McCain Presidency.  You will be voting AGAINST your own best interests.  You will be voting for more tax cuts for the rich, more National Debt, cpomtinued War in Iraq for who knows how long, no help with healthcare, & forget your Social Security & Medicare.  You better save your pennies incase you get sick, can’t work or need medicine or healthcare.  Or YOU’ll be pulling yourself up by your bootsraps out with the homeless on the corner.  George Bush dug a us a hole so deep with the exact same ideology McCain has.  Look where we are now.  Wake up people!!!  Learn, Read, Get Educated!
