What Happened to Rowing Machines?

When we moved into our house it came with an old rowing machine in the basement. I started using it and it was the greatest thing ever. I was getting fit like nobody’s business. But one of the hydraulic pistons gave out and since then I haven’t been able to find a replacement piston or any reasonably priced machines new or used. Where did they go? It makes me very sad. Not much to survey here, I’ll have to keep checking craigslist. It’s just tragic.

How much of a workout is it? You might try the classifieds they have used equipment. Do you have to have a good back or knees? And what does this have to do with family life? No workout, the family suffers? I can understand that.

I think it’s a good workout - I take it slow and go for a long time, and found it really toning, not bulking. I’m a girl, so I like that. I never had a problem with the back and knees. Seems like it should be fine as it doesn’t strain anything that I noticed. You’re right, it doesn’t really have much to do with family life except that there isn’t a fitness park on this site, and when I don’t have it I’m grumpier. That’s harder on the family for sure.
