Tracy Anderson Mat
Workout Review: Part 2
Two days ago I did the lying-on-the-floor routine for the first time and loved it. It’s not that long at all. I felt it in a good way all day. Not sure why it’s called a leg workout as it’s definitely targeting the butt. Of course it involves the legs but it’s zeroing in on the glutes. You definitely need a mat for that and some may need a folded towel if the on-the-stomach-move kills their pubic bone.
BTW the only routines on the mat are the butt and the abs. Perhaps in naming this DVD they threw out “Tracy Anderson’s Workout That Sometimes Is Lying On An Actual Mat, But Has Mainly Standing Routines When A Mat Is Always Nearby.”
I’ve also figured out after 2 weeks that Tracy is basically working all of the muscles in the most stretched out positions possible. Interesting. Completely different than exercises as we’ve known them and I am here from the days of Jane Fonda in a striped thong leotard, leg warmers and a flash dance headband. Okay maybe not quite that far but almost.
That’s what’s so intriguing about this. Is it possible in 2008 to have such innovation that we can radically change our muscle shape and tone AND actually refresh the skin too?
At work, in front of the mirrors, I try not to be obvious staring at my new arm shape. They are definitely on their way to hot status. I feel like a first-timer in NYC staring at the high rise buildings. I’m checking myself out and thinking I almost look thin in the arms! Not complaining tho!
My weight has dropped since I started the Mat routine. I’m down to the last 7 pounds having dropped 8. I look so much leaner it’s amazing.
A couple of observations…
Tracy does talk more than I originally thought. Again, my pain blocked my ears! She’s soft and not annoyingly chirping and yelling like she’s a cheerleader on coffee.
I notice that I still have to stop during the standing legs to shake out the supporting foot and get blood back through it. But I join back in faster now. She of course never stops because she is the Tracinator.
I take small breaks in between Tracy’s exercises for the different body parts to check my email, return a call, etc. For me it’s less stressful than trying to keep up with her without stopping. Also it lets my body recover briefly especially in between say the no-weight arm and with-weight arm routines as I build up my stamina.
