Tracy Anderson Dance Cardio
Workout DVD Review

It is done sooooo FAST as in FAST FAST. The two grand plie sits she called for in the slow instructional mode have become a push step in a half lunge because it’s performed so fast. She said in the interview that she really wants this cardio plus the mat workout 4, 5, or 6 times a week. Her cardio is waaaaay more intensive than my daily walks and it is intricate with face this way, that way, travel, quick spin behind, leap, jump, pony step, skip, jumping jacks, hop traveling backwards, etc. I’m not sure the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders could keep up.

Here’s what I’m thinking at this point. Am I too old? Is this better for someone in their 20’s? Could I hurt myself with the quick moves? This is aerobic dance to the max which has never been my strong suit by any means. Forget anything you’d see on TV late at night in an infomercial, Tracy is flying through the air. Remember Gwyneth saying that she was bad at this at first? Oh honey. I get that.

I suppose if you’re one of those Stepford Fitness Freaks I referred to early, click and buy this DVD now. For me, I’m feeling overwhelmed and lacking confidence but I’m going back to the top AGAIN, rewind and see if I can get this routine. If I get this choreography, then I have to figure out how I’ll ever have the stamina to get through it!

Really if I could or anyone could we’d all be size 2 or 4.

I just had the idea to put the DVD player on the fastest slow motion speed. This way I can see the real execution of choreography when danced. This works better.

My recommendation is to go over the slow breakdown for a basic understanding but don’t get too anal about it. Then go to the real tempo breakdown and go to the fastest slow motion to get it better.

Okay I’m trying it in real tempo instructional mode but I’m missing that quick spin around and leap out of it. Yes, super quick spin and leap OUT. Think 2008 Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson on the balance beam in a blind death defying move.

I also think this Dance Cardio DVD would be better done AFTER the Mat workout when your muscles are more warmed up since there’s so much bouncing. She never says which to do first.

I know the first routine better now. I’m going to try it at real speed in the real routines section. Maybe I should make out my will first.

OMG, I got through ¾ of it. I’m proud of myself. Going back to learn the second dance combo. This one is way way easier than the first. Off to the regular speed. I do ¾ of it. That’s enough. I’m not even looking at the other dances yet.
