A review of The Zone Diet

The recipes were heaven. Heaven on two levels. One for how the food made me feel and the other reason: some of the cookbooks were amazingly 4 star restaurant delicious. I had been waiting for cat food taste, but this was better than stuff I’d been cooking for years.

The smoothies blew my mind. No milk, no bananas. Here’s the marvelous whey protein (vanilla bean flavored) that I use for smoothies, pancakes, and more. It blends to nothing (no chalky taste) and is a pure protein source.

The breakfasts, snacks, lunches and dinners were all amazing. I had given up dairy and cheese before, but they were back now! Not hunks and chunks but flavor punches. Stuff I never liked I found out were huge no-no’s such as rice cakes! I hated them anyway! Give me cheese!

THIS is what I’d waited for all my life. It was everything the book talked about. I was mentally and emotionally calm, I felt energized and positive about what I ate, full but not overly so.

I was fascinated by this Zone Diet. It was complicated (at least for me) but I was intrigued and wanted to start eating immediately and learning on the side as I had time. There was a great deal of discussion about hormones I never knew about and not the hormones that cause hot flashes. Hormones that make you lose weight. Who knew?

Here’s a little of the Zone information that completely got me hooked and made me so hopeful and proved to be magic for me in 6 weeks time…

Magical metabolic changes occur-pretty quickly (give it 3 weeks if your body is stubborn to get the thruster jets working correctly). I used to have a warp speed metabolism in my youth-I could eat like a football player. However, with age, it slowed down to a glacier moving through an icy ocean. Exercise and what I thought was eating clean wasn’t cutting it and I could gain weight for no apparent reason.

Instead of losing weight through loss of water and muscle, you actually lose, yes lose, excess fat from your fat cells!!!!!!! How exciting is that?! While liposuction removes the fat cells, you can, without the down time and money, release the fat from the fat cells simply by eating the right balance of the right foods.
